Funeral Details: Private Family Arrangements

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bob Parr on November 24, 2024.

Beloved husband and the love of his life Sandra, for 61 cherished years. Loving father to Bill Parr, and Rhonda Schneider (the late Tim). He was a proud and caring Grandpa to Shelby (Kodi), Noah, Lindsey (Mitch), and Hailey. Dear brother to Marg Jennings (Don) and Uncle to Trudy Orr (Randy) and Scott Jennings (Lisa). Bob was the son of the late Jim and Verna Parr.

Born and raised on the Georgian bay, Bob spent his childhood summers at the Mink Islands with his family who were in the commercial fishing industry. That love of the Bay led him to a distinguished career with the Canadian Coast Guard for 37 years. Bob sailed on many Coast Guard ships, but his proudest roll came when he purchased and rebuilt his tug, the MinkIsle. Captain Bob along with his 1st Mate Sandra, spent 30 wonderful and adventurous years exploring Georgian Bay and the North Channel with good friends from the tugging community.

Bob also had a remarkable talent for building and repairing just about anything. His workshop was stocked with duplicate or triplicate parts and tools for any job. He was always the go-to person for advice and help when something needed doing. He took great joy in tinkering in his shop and creating projects that showcased his craftsmanship.

He spent his retirement years on Westyle Island, enjoying time at the cottage with family. At the age of 75, Bob decided on one final project and that was to build a new cottage at the island. Over the course of the next five summers, friends, family and his best helper Rhonda, built the cottage together, a project that created priceless memories forever.

In accordance with Bob’s wishes, a private cremation has taken place. He will be celebrated next summer at the cottage drinking the coldest beer around on the decks he built with pride.

My condolences to the Parr family from the Humphrey/Wing family on Middle Island. My memories of the fishing boat coming in and the packing of the fish are so clear and so much a part of Snug Harbour history.

Sandra and family, we send our sincere sympathy. Bob was a fighter, his strength of character, his humour and his love for you and the Bay was evident in all his conversations. He always had a few extra minutes to stand and talk whenever I would meet him – shopping could wait a little longer!
