In loving memory of Valerie Thomas, it is with deep sadness that we announce her passing on August 18, 2023, after a courageous battle with the disease PSP. Valerie was a loving daughter of the late Willis and Phyllis Harrison; a beloved wife to Ron Thomas for 48 years; a devoted mother to Aaron Thomas, and Shannon (Andrew) Greavette; a cherished grandmother to Matthew and Cassidy, Milla, and Corbin; and a proud great-grandmother to Myles. Dear sister of Laura, Lois, Mart, Joan, Pat, Janice, and the late Keith. She will be missed also by her furry companions Molly and Willy.
Valerie was an incredible woman who touched the hearts of all who knew her. Her warm smile, kind heart, and unwavering love will be deeply missed. She had a gift for making friends and leaving a lasting impact on anyone fortunate enough to cross her path.
Valerie's loved ones will always remember her as a pillar of strength and a source of endless love and support. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she held dear.
In this time of grief, we ask for your thoughts, prayers, and support for Ron, Shannon, Aaron, and the entire family. May Valerie find eternal peace and continue to watch over her nearest and dearest. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will remain with us always.

Posted on: Monday, August 21, 2023I am writing about my dearest friend. My sister, by choice. We experienced highs and lows. Laughter and tears. Regardless of time and distance we have remained and will continue to remain faithful to each other. I feared the day of Val’s passing. Being unsure how I would cope. Crying on my little balcony on Friday the 18th of August our good friend Bonnie called me asking if I had heard anything. At that point I had not. Bonnie and I were struggling with the event unfolding. Out of the clear blue Val sent a message to Bonnie and myself in the form of a beautiful Hummingbird that flitted up to my Hibiscus plant and then proceeded to fly up and over my home. I have never had a Hummingbird in my flowers ever. This was a first! Val promised signs that she is ok would be forthcoming… she wasn’t kidding. Tears turned to joy. I will miss seeing Val in person. However, I realize she is only a thought away and is with all of her loved ones. Every ounce of love I have goes to Ron, Shannon, Aaron the grandchildren and wee Myles Val’s first great grandchild. Know that you all have a phenomenal guardian angel looking over you all. Love and light to you all.

Posted on: Monday, August 21, 2023Dearest Ron and family, it’s with heartfelt sympathy I send condolences on the passing of Val. Those who had the privilege of being called one of Val’s friends truly knew what a beautiful person she was. Val was loyal giving and had a heart of gold her personality sparkled and she was a shinning example of how to live life to the fullest. When our hearts are empty with Val’s passing I think the best thing is to fill it with memories and happy times all the fun and laughter we had and there was lots of that through the years. I know you will always be in our hearts and prayers. Until we meet again my Beautiful
friend I’ll always remember you. Love Bonnie

Posted on: Wednesday, August 23, 2023Dear Ron, we’re thinking of you and the family and sending our sincere condolences to you all!
Cheri, Pearl, Kathy and myself have been so fortunate the last several years to reconnect during our cousins lunches and shopping excursions! Being able to reminisce about our parents and all their adventures has brought us all comfort and has been loaded with laughs. Val gave us that welcome home feeling as we had many visits to her home in Barrie. She always provided all of us with unconditional love and of course Ron got us our treats for the afternoon. Val was a deeply spiritual person and a warm caregiver to all she knew. Ron we saw firsthand your love for each other and the patient, caregiving you provided to her. To Val, a kindred spirit you will be sorely missed!
Love Chris and Dave and our Cousins Lunch Group

Posted on: Monday, August 28, 2023I never did meet Val but am writing on her condolences page. That seems to be just the kind of woman Val is. She bought my kitchen from facebook marketplace a few years ago, and her lovely husband Ron picked it up and it was easy to see that the BEST people got my kitchen. We struck up a friendship over facebook (progress pictures of hers and my kitchen!) and I can honestly say how amazing she was. She confided in me about her illness, and I could hardly believe that despite this terrible disease how wonderful of an attitude she had about life. With that she taught me alot of lessons. I think of her often, I will miss her and her posts on facebook and my heart goes out to Ron and all of her family at this difficult time. It is so very clear they have lost one of the most special ladies earth has ever known. With deepest sympathy, Keka.

Posted on: Monday, August 28, 2023Deepest condolences to Val’s family. I did not meet Val face to face but we had exchanged a number of emails over the past several months where we were able to talk about PSP and its impacts on our lives and the lives of our families. I so appreciated that Val took time away from her own problems to help support others who were traveling the same journey as she was. She was clearly a caring and loving individual. May the wonderful memories of Val help to sustain her loved ones as they grieve her loss.

Posted on: Monday, August 28, 2023My auntie! The one that my family chose! I will always remember the stories my mom would tell me about all the shenanigans they got into. And I will forever remember the time I got to spend with Val! She always had a way of making people feel heard and understood! She could almost read you, and instantly tell you how and why everything was going to be ok! She was always such a comforting woman! I miss her every single day, and while I would love to have seen her at least 100 times more, I know she is at peace and always watching over all of us! Auntie Val I love you forever and always!
