In Loving Memory of Shirley McLaughlin

With sad hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Shirley at Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie, Ontario on Saturday, February 5th, 2022, in her 85th year. Survived by her loving sons Tim (Glenda), David (Christine) and Michael (Letlet). Also survived by three grandchildren: Michael and Conner (Michael), and Alex (David). Predeceased by her much loved daughter, Cheryl ( Brent Parkes) and daughter-in-law, Misa (Michael). Dear sister to Diane (Malcolm Watts); loving Aunt to Jeffrey, Jeremy and Amy.

Shirley was born in Kitchener, Ontario, to Stan and Mary Tischart where she lived until age 13. When the family moved to Toronto, Shirley attended St. Joseph's high school, Islington. After graduating as an xray technician, Shirley worked at Women's College hospital.

Shirley shared joyful times with her many wonderful friends. Shirley enjoyed tennis, bowling, music, dancing, live theatre, cribbage, euchre, and reading mystery novels. Shirley was an avid Blue Jay fan and closely followed Canadian curling. As a stay-at-home Mom, Shirley was a Brownie/ Girl Guide leader, coached for the local ringette team, canvassed for the Cancer society, and volunteered as a sponsor and facilitator for Al-Anon Toronto. In her more senior years, Shirley was happy sharing all her meals with her Labrador Bonnie.

Shirley found her strength in her deep abiding faith and her care for others.

Graveside burial service will be held at a later date.

Sincere Condolences to all Shirley’s family. I am married to Jim Tischart & only met Shirley once, when she came to our home to celebrate her Aunt Muriel’s (my mother-in-law) birthday, so I did not know her at all but from reading her obituary here it sounds like she had a good life & she was a wonderful interesting person. May she Rest In Peace & may God Bless all of you through these difficult times. Jean & Jim Tischart
