TUCK, Sheila I. B. (nee Kirby) March 15th, 1939 - January 3rd, 2017
Daughter of the late Leonard Stephen Kirby and Edith Pearl Latchford
Sheila Tuck passed away peacefully with family by her side on January 3rd, 2017. Sheila was originally from the Belleville area but she resided in Barrie for almost five decades. She had the ability to make friends easily and was always eager to make you feel welcomed. Sheila excelled scholastically and was a quick learner. She was the woman behind the man and spent much of her time working alongside her children’s father, the late Robert Charles Tuck. She was instrumental in building the family business. Apart from launching and managing new businesses, she was very passionate about cooking and baking and took extreme pleasure in hosting many dinner parties in the family home. We all enjoyed her famous cherry cheesecake. Sheila also had a green thumb and enjoyed the serenity of working in her garden.
After moving several times, as the wife of a builder, she resided on Murray Street for an extended period to provide structure and stability for the family. Financial success came early for Sheila but she never forgot her humble beginnings and gave back to the community by volunteering with the local May Court chapter in their many endeavours. Meals on Wheels was also a passion for her and sometimes done with her children in tow. Sheila was fortunate to have traveled extensively early in life.
Loving mother of Alan (Leanne) Tuck, Julie (Dan) Page, Karen (Ben) Rattelade and the late Katharine. Grandmother to Ryan (Ryan’s mother Lynn), Sarah, Samantha, Krystal, Andrew, Melissa and Piers. Great-Grandmother to Ethan and Payton. She is survived by her sister Carolyn Fox-Begley (Foxboro), brothers Wayne Kirby (Prince George, BC), Merritt (Jane) Kirby (Camden East), Royden Kirby (Prince George, BC), John (Toni) Kirby (Wooler), Keith (Allie) Kirby (Stockdale), Sister-in-Law Caroline Kirby, and the late Bryan Kirby. Chosen and cherished parents - Morris Ellis & Marian Rutter, and Siblings - Wanda (John) Yank, Dwayne Ellis, Barbara (Steven) French.
We would like to thank Donna and her staff, along with the Golden Girls, at Serenity Assisted Living for all their care and support. The family appreciates the care given to their mother through the CCAC staff, Catherine and staff of Saint Elizabeth. Also, Cheryl of Peaceful Transition for helping with arrangements. She will be missed by family, many friends and acquaintances.

Posted on: Sunday, January 15, 2017RIP Shelia,,,I did not want you to suffer, however wish you were still here. Will miss our “earthly mom” to daughter talks, about life, spirituality, grandkids, gardening and just life in general. I was honoured to be your daughter in law and friend for 42 years. You were my mentor as a teenager and without your love and support I certainly wouldn’t be the woman that I am. Plant some flowers and chase those cardinals in heaven as I know you will. We will meet again…..only bye for now. God Bless……….Lin
