It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Sandy Thomson on November 6, 2024, at the age of 77. Sandy was the beloved daughter of the late Orville “Red” and Louise Wiseman and the cherished wife of the late Ron Thomson.

Loving mother of Bill Thomson and his wife, Michelle, and the proud grandmother to Kirsten and Mackenzie Thomson, who were her greatest joys. Dear sister to Ken Wiseman, and Gary Wiseman, and sister-in-law to the late Pearl and Ian Cowan. Sandy will also be missed by her nieces and nephews, Sean Wiseman, Gary Wiseman, Shelly Chelin, Kristina Wiseman, and David Cowan.

Growing up in Windsor, Ontario, Sandy was known for her adventurous spirit, her love of gymnastics and dancing, especially to Motown great, Diana Ross, and of course, The Beatles, and The Beach Boys. A tomboy at heart, she excelled in math and science and embarked on a successful career in banking, climbing the ranks to become a bank manager at Canada Trust.

In the late '70s, Sandy moved from Windsor to London, Ontario, eventually settling in Barrie in 1987, where she spent the remainder of her life. Summers held a special place in her heart, as she cherished time at her parents' cottage near Parry Sound, enjoying sunsets by the water, hikes with her father (around the infamous “loop”), and cherished memories around the firepit with her dog by her side. Sandy's love for animals was evident to all who knew her, as was her love for reading and discussing politics, especially when seated in her cozy rocking chair or down by the lake or at the fire.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Ferndale Banquet Hall, 24 Ferndale Industrial Dr, Barrie. Friends and family are invited to join us for a luncheon and refreshments as we honor Sandy's life and legacy.

In Sandy's memory, donations may be made to the Ontario SPCA or to Hospice Simcoe. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.peacefultransition.ca.

Sandy will forever be remembered for her kindness, her love of nature and animals, and the warmth she brought to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
