BROTT, Ruth Eileen (nee Quick)
Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Roberta Place, Barrie, Ontario. Ruth, in her 99th year, was the beloved wife of Harry Brott (deceased) and is survived by her sister-in-law, Catherine Quick. She was a wonderful aunt, cherished by many nieces and nephews especially Margaret, Larry & Edie, Russell & Marleen, Mary, John and Cathie & Richard. In her early days Ruth was employed as a social worker in Northern Ontario and later she retired from the nursing staff at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto. She was very generous in nature and active in her community and will be dearly missed by family and friends. A special thank you to the staff of Roberta Place. A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring of 2017. To honour Ruth’s memory a donation to a charity of choice would be appreciated. Posted on: Wednesday, November 23, 2016Thank you to whomever sent us the notice about Ruth’s death. Earlier in the day I had been thinking about her. In her Christmas note last year she said that she had a better window so that she could watch the squirrels outside. That made me happy.
Ruth was a close friend of my parents John and Helga Hayward. She was a part of our growing up lives especially when she worked at Princess Margaret and we lived in Toronto. I remember her with fondness.
Sincerely
Liz Forde (Hayward)

Posted on: Wednesday, November 23, 2016Ruth’s “In Memorium” was received today with deep appreciation for the sender’s thoughtful kindness. I met Ruth through a dear mutual friend, Betty North, who had worked as a hospital dietitian in Ottawa during the war years. Visits to her White House were always special occasions! Ruth was indeed “the salt of the earth” and “a light to the world”. She is truly missed and remembered with much gratitude.
With sincere condolences to her family,
