Ronald Wayne O’Brien

November 11, 1946 - December 18, 2021

Funeral Details:

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald (Wayne) O'Brien at the age of 75. Wayne passed away peacefully at Hospice Simcoe in Barrie, Ontario on December 18, 2021.
Wayne will be deeply missed by his wife of 44 years, Wendy O'Brien (nee Cunningham), his daughter Lindsay Johnstone (Kenzie), grandson Wallace, sister Marilyn and many other close friends and family.
Wayne worked very hard (and happily) as an Accountant for over 35 years. He was a gentle and kind man with a big heart who loved his family deeply. He loved spending time with family, enjoyed nature and followed many sports.
We would like to thank the compassionate and supportive staff and volunteers at Hospice Simcoe for making him comfortable during his last days.
As per Wayne's wishes, a funeral service will not be held.

Dearest Wayne: It is with a heavy heart that I write these words. My life without you in it is going to be very empty. You were not only my Brother but also a best friend & therapist; you will be irreplaceable. You were always there for me when I needed you. We shared a sibling relationship like non other, full of love for each other. You were so brave for so many years & during recent months suffered terribly. It is now time I must say goodbye & wish that you Rest in the peace you deserve. Goodbye for now Wayne until we meet again. All my love your Sister, Marilyn. My deepest heartfelt condolences go out to Wendy & Lindsay with much love.

I’ve spent the last few days thinking of Christmas’s past, reminiscing about my family playing cards around my grandparents dining room table and hearing the one of a kind laugh of my uncle when he would win a hand, great memories. I am very grateful for the time I spent catching up with him at Lindsay and Kenzie’s wedding a few years ago, he was always so kind and sincere and when you were with him he made you feel you were the only one in the room, he was genuinely interested in what you had to say. He will be missed.

Dear Wendy. David and I send our condolences to you and the family. We were very sorry to hear of Wayne’s passing. Wayne was strategic in helping me with our business accounting back in the day. I appreciated it so much.

💕Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us everyday. Unseen, unheard, but always near, so loved, so missed so very dear💕
