I was sorry to hear of Roger’s passing. Although I never met him in person, I spoke with him on the phone quite often in recent years. Roger called my father, Albert Walmsley, every day, after my mother died in 2009, to make sure Dad was OK.
This meant a lot to Dad. I was often present when the calls came in and Dad never failed to say what a great guy Roger was and what a good friend he had been over the years.
This went on for quite a few years, until Dad went into a retirement home and it became harder to contact him. Roger then made it a point to keep in touch with me to keep up-to-date on how Dad was.
Roger will always be an example to me of what a committed friend looks like.
Sincere sympathy to Ann and Roger’s family.
    Pat Houlton (nee Walmsley)
