Richard “Rick” Timothy Deveaux

Funeral Details: A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Richard Timothy Deveaux, who passed away peacefully on February 20, 2025, at the age of 79.

Beloved husband of Ann Marie for 58 wonderful years, Richard was a devoted father to Michèle (Geoff) and Steven (Kate) and a cherished poppa to Teigan, Devon, Andrew, Sydney, Alyson, Hayden, and great-poppa to Aria. He will also be deeply missed by his sisters, Jeanette and Diane, and was predeceased by his brothers, Russell and David.

Richard was a businessman with a larger-than-life personality.  A true people person, he loved to connect with friends, share stories, and drop by for a chat—he was always the life of the conversation.  Known for his generosity, he was quick to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.  His love for sweets was no secret, with butterscotch meringue pie from his home province of Nova Scotia holding a special place in his heart, or should we say palate.

In accordance with Richard’s wishes, a private cremation has taken place.  A Celebration of Life will be held a later date.  Those who wish to share memories or offer condolences may do so online at www.peacefultransition.ca.

Richard’s warmth, kindness, and endless stories will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Rick, I never had the pleasure of meeting you, but I can tell you that you left a great legacy in your son Steve, whom I am lucky to call playmate and friend. Rest in peace.

Our sincere condolences to Ann, Michelle, and Steve and families! Although we haven’t seen Rick in a number off years, I always remember the countless hours at the Sroud Arena at Hockey practices and games where we both coached our two Sons. Also on the sidelines at Innisdale Secondary watching the Football games. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention all the dances that we organize to pay or the Football equipment. Rich was always there to set up the stage and tear down in the wee hours, and run the Bar! You will always be in our thoughts my old friend and Drummer! I do know you are now at peace! Smile on and infect all in the hereafter with your contagious smile and happy disposition. Tom and Rhodell

What a great guy he was. A kind, fun loving man. I remember a few years ago at the family hockey tournament in Ottawa where Rick was the head cheerleader leading the chorus of ” Here We Go Rogers…. Here We Go ” . He was the lead cheerleader unifying I believe 65 Rogers relatives and friends. The cheers reverberated through the arena and I was still playing then and the Rogers players were so pumped by that and I believe we won the whole tournament that year.
Thank you Rick. You brought people together.
