Richard “Rick” John Lindsay

Funeral Details: A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard (Rick) Lindsay. Rick passed peacefully in his sleep at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie on December 17, 2024 at 72 years of age.

Rick was the beloved son of Margaret and the late Arthur, a caring husband to Susan, and a loving father to Sheri (Mike), Shannon, Joshua, and Jonathan (Meaghan).

Rick found immeasurable joy in his role as a grandfather, whom they called Papa. He absolutely adored his grandchildren—Jamie, Jessie, Aiden, Liam, Olivia, and Jacob, and great-papa to Gerard. Few things brought him more happiness than spending time with them, whether sharing stories, offering guidance, or simply enjoying their company.

Rick will be fondly remembered and missed by his many brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Rick had a lifelong love of classic cars, spending countless hours both restoring them and attending car shows. He also had a passion for country music and a talent for playing the guitar, often filling his home with music. He will be remembered as a hardworking, steady presence in the lives of those he loved—a reliable rock through life’s ups and downs.

In keeping with Rick’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held in the new year to honor his memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Rick’s honour to The Kidney Foundation of Canada.

I had the pleasure of being Rick’s neighbour. I’ll never forget sitting in his thunderbird in the driveway I was quite young in elementary but I thought it was so cool. He offered to give my mom a ride in it each year on her birthday too. We have fond memories of Rick and his family and missed being their neighbours once they moved. I’m so sorry and deepest condolences to the Lindsay family.
