R. Wallace Kennedy

July 21, 1922 - April 29, 2019

Funeral Details: Private memorial service to take place a later time

Wallace Kennedy passed peacefully early in the morning of Monday, April 29, 2019 at his home in
The Odd Fellow & Rebekah Home in Barrie. He has now joined our Mother Florence (Little) in
heaven. They were married for 72 years before Mom's passing.

Wally was born in New York City on July 21, 1922. Leaving there at an early age, with his parents, they
returned to Canada, finally settling in Barrie, Ontario in 1932.

Our Father was born with retinitis pigmentosa and lost all of his vision in his 20's. This only served to
strengthen his will and spirit, form his strong character, and instill his extraordinary memory, and
sensible outlook on life. His passing will leave a void in many lives.

After many short jobs in Barrie, Dad enjoyed 10 years employed by Canadian General Electric. He
then accepted employment with the Canadian National Institute for the Blind that took the family to
Kitchener, Sudbury, London, and head office in Toronto. From there he retired to Barrie and
enjoyed once again his music, Bridge, Euchre, his service work with the I.O.O.F. where he has
attained a lifetime membership, but always the love of his family.

Over 50 years, Dad enjoyed playing the piano at many gigs while a member of several dance bands.
He was a baritone soloist in Trinity Anglican Church choir for years. He sang for weddings, club
functions, was a member of the Parkview Singers and sang in church choirs while based in Sudbury
and Kitchener.

Surviving children are Linda (Gordon Forster), Karen (Jack Carson), Peter (Elaine Kennedy), Terrence,
and Kathleen (Ross Beatty). Also, sister-in-law Edith Jacklin (Little). As well, he is survived by
grandchildren, Tianna (Tom), William, Dwayne (Tammy); Robin, John and Elizabeth; Rebecca;
Brittany, Carlie and Raymond; Jennifer (Kevin) and Nielsen. Also, he is survived by step
grandchildren, Brad (Paul), Joan (Gary), Donna (Wayne) and Lorraine. As well, great grandchildren
Atia, Elora, Everett, Hunter and Emmelyn. Step great grandchildren Tracey, Eric, Justin, Christopher,
Ashley, Amanda, Danielle and Emily. Step great-great grandchildren, Riley and Ruby.

There will be a private family service.

Dad received extraordinary care from the many staff members at the Odd Fellow and Rebekah
Home over his 4 year stay and the family extend a huge thank-you to all of you.

Donations to the Odd Fellow & Rebekah Home Building Fund would be appreciated by the family.
