Funeral Details: A memorial service to celebrate Paul’s life will be held on December 21, 2024, at THE BARRIE COUNTRY CLUB. Visitation will take place from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by the memorial service at 1:30 PM. Light refreshments to follow. As per the family’s wishes, they kindly ask that no uniforms be worn.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Paul Blake Catling on December 11, 2024, in Barrie, Ontario, at the age of 47. Paul was a devoted husband, loving father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and a friend to many. His passing leaves an irreplaceable void in the lives of all who knew him.
Paul was born on July 6, 1977, and was raised in a family that instilled in him the values of kindness, hard work, and empathy. He carried these values throughout his life, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he met. In his professional life, Paul wore many hats. He was a dedicated golf course superintendent, a courageous police officer, a skilled mortgage broker, and a responsible landlord. Regardless of the role, he was known for his ambition, intelligence, and unwavering commitment to doing his best. His colleagues and clients admired his dedication and integrity, and he always found ways to make those around him feel valued.
Outside of work, Paul was passionate about staying active and living life to the fullest. He loved attending sporting events, enjoying concerts, and traveling with his beloved wife, and creating countless cherished memories along the way with his two beautiful daughters. He had an incredible sense of humor and loved to play tricks on people, often keeping everyone on their toes with his quick wit and clever pranks. He had a special way of teasing his daughters, always keeping them laughing (and sometimes rolling their eyes!) with his relentless banter. His playful teasing was a reflection of his warm heart and his ability to make any moment feel a little lighter.
Above all, Paul was a kind and caring individual who always put the needs of others first. His empathetic nature, strong sense of fairness, and unwavering support for those he loved were hallmarks of his
character. He will be remembered for his intelligence, his big heart, and his ability to make others feel truly seen and valued.
Paul is mourned by his loving wife, Sheila, and their cherished children, Olivia(19) and Morgan(16), as well as his parents, Alan and Colleen Catling, his brother Mark Catling (Tracey), Mother in law Mary Brown, two sister in laws Deanna Fletcher (Andrew), Marilyn Purchase, nephews Aiden and Brock, niece Jenna and a wide circle of friends and extended family. His loss will be deeply felt by all who knew him, but his legacy of love, kindness, and hard work will continue to inspire us every day.

Paul’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. He was, and always will be, deeply loved.

He will always be remembered here for his kind hospitality and his presence playing basketball 🏀 in his driveway whenever he was home 🏡
We were lucky to have met him and grateful when we were visiting his parents place. My grandfather would always take us for a ride after supper to see if the boys were home 🏡 and to see 👀 the deer 🦌
Thank you to the catling family for helping guide our family whenever they could. I will always hold a place in my heart for such a visit ❤️

Posted on: Thursday, December 19, 2024It is often said that who you surround yourself in life is the truest reflection of your character as a person. As you all know, Paul could not ask for a more welcoming, warm, caring, loving amazing group of family and friends to surround himself with. From his parents who always welcomed everyone into their home and treated every visitor like family, to his brother who was always there to support Paul and shared many of Paul’s great traits (except he was a better basketball player/terrible volleyball player) to his absolutely amazing wife Shelia. I remember talking to Paul after he first met Shelia, and he knew after that first time he had found “the one”, and time has proven that so true. Together they created something special (twice) with the amazing girls they had, and that he was so proud of, and a family that many could only dream of.
Every single time I saw Paul there was always non- stop laughter, and he had a unique laugh that was just so contagious it always lit up the room and the mood of everyone who heard it. I never met anyone who knew Paul and did not consider him a friend.
While your loss has affected everyone so deeply, through your sacrifice you have brought everyone closer together, and sent yet another reminder that time is so precious and limited. You have made us all realize that we need to go out of our way to appreciate our friends and family a little more, hold them closer a little more, hug them a little more, tell them “I love you” a little more, and appreciate everything around us a little more.
You will be so missed, and while we sadly cannot change the fact you are no longer here, the impact you had on so many lives will never be forgotten. Your spirit will live on through your family, and through your friends, and you will always live in all of our hearts and with the laughter, fond memories, and stories we share with each other.

P.s. we all know you are playing ball in heaven….try not to get too may technical fouls and get kicked out of the game before the rest of us can get up there and sub in for you.
