Mykhaylo, known fondly to his loved ones as Misha, passed away peacefully on July 13th, 2023 with his family at his side, after a courageous year-long battle with cancer.

Misha was loved dearly by many.  In addition to his countless friends, he will forever be in the hearts of his loving wife, his children, and his parents.

Misha lived a fulfilling life that was packed with adventure and love.  After immigrating to Canada from Ukraine in 1997, he settled with his young family in North York and finally, Richmond Hill.  He was known for his love of the water and could often be found sailing on Lake Simcoe in the summer months or swimming with friends during memorable camping trips.  He had a passion for travelling and fulfilled his bucket list trip sailing the Aegean Sea off the coast of Greece with his wife and friends.

Misha was known for bringing joy, warmth, and humor to any room he was in.  His laugh and big smile will be remembered by all who loved him.  His love of storytelling and anecdotes was infectious, and you couldn't help but be drawn into his words whenever he spoke.

For those wishing for an opportunity to share their condolences with his family, a drop in visitation will be held at Peaceful Transition, 2-15236 Yonge St, Aurora, ON, on Friday, July 21st from 10 am - 12 pm.

Words fail to express our sadness with the loss of an extraordinary person. Misha was very talented and dedicated in everything what he was doing. He loved his family, his work, his friends, his new home in Canada and his home country- Ukraine. He is our hero forever.

Michael, you are no longer with us. It so sad and unfortunate that you left us all too soon. I remember how you join the QA team in 1998. You was young and ambitious. During this difficult time, we extend our deepest sympathies to your family, expressing our wish that they find strength and comfort in the loving memories they shared with you. Rest in peace, dear Michael…

I referred to Misha as Mikey and sometimes as Mr. Oparin. I fondly remember frequently walking by his desk and he always had a smile and chocolates to offer. He will be missed. May his soul rest in peace.

It’s hard to find words to express the sorrow – Misha was a great friend, talented and dedicated person, always generating non-standard ideas, and always ready to help. Rest with peace, Misha, your soul is with God now

Dear Misha: It feels unreal that you are leaving us. We enjoyed every minute when we met. We were impressed with your personality and inspired by your commitment to your loved ones. We wish we had met you earlier. You will be in our hearts forever. Farewell, my friend.

We met him on September 2, 1984, when we entered the same technical school in order to get into the “one gang” and remain friends forever. We have gone through a lot and you can even write a separate book on how we went through this life path. How we were together during the Chernobyl accident in 1986, or decided who would be in prison on which shelf after the putsch and the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. We had a lot of good, fun and joyful for all this time and we will always remember you. Rest in peace !

Our deepest condolences go out to Mykhaylo’s wife, children, parents, and family members. Your loss is shared by so many who were fortunate to know Misha socially or professionally. I will always remember his demure sense of humour, quips delivered with a straight face and imperceptible smile hiding in the corners of his mouth. Rest in peace, Misha.
