Melanie McRae

October 6, 1972 - August 28, 2024

Funeral Details: Private Family Arrangements

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Melanie Deborah Ann McRae Wednesday August 28, 2024, at the young age of 51.  Melanie was born on October 6, 1972 in Niagara Falls to Rosemary Doreen Lapere and Melvin McRae who were also both born in Niagara Falls.

Melanie was a long-time resident of Barrie and lived with the love of her life, Corey Lindsay.  They were together for 23 years.  Melanie was talented at so many things, but she said her greatest accomplishment and love was when her son, Wayne Lindsay was born.  He gave her 19 years of love, laughs and memories.  She is also survived by her two brothers Kenny and Barry whom she talked about frequently.  She also has many relatives whom all have fond thoughts of her growing up to adulthood.

The other family members Melanie loved so much was her dogs.  Buddy who unfortunately passed away and now we have Tatum and Tank who loved her as much as she loved them.

Melanie was a Graduated from Stamford Collegiate, also accounting at Niagara College and Basic Cooking at Niagara College.

Her biggest passion in the work force was cooking and being a chef at numerous places.  She loved to cook for restaurants and retirement homes.  She was very creative with her menus, with special meals for planed organizations.   If time permitted you would always find her out talking to customers and residents at the retirement home to make them feel special and asking if they enjoyed their meals.  On her days off she would be creating special meals or her family.

When health issues arose during the last 4 years, she started working from home as an Inbound Call Agent and got many rewards for doing her job so well.  During her working life, Melanie always gave 120% of herself.

When Wayne became of age to become a Beaver, Melanie joined to become a Beaver and Cub leader.  She loved working with the kids and it was good for Wayne also.  When they flew up to Cubs she also became a leader there as well and they went camping and winter camping and she did a lot of the cooking but she was loved by the other leaders as she was always ready to jump in whenever there was a function or event.  It was a passion of hers just like crocheting and reading.

In leaving your condolences, Corey and Wayne would like a funny story or great memory that they have not heard to put in their memories.

Oh Melanie! I am sorry to hear you are gone. I have to say we connected a few years ago as we didn’t know each other but theses last few years we got to know who we were. It was great to hear about your life! Her dad and my dad are brothers. We do have other cousins that we know of but haven’t spoke. The last message I received from her ,she wanted to get out of Ontario. Melanie soar high with those golden wings. I will miss you !

I’m heartbroken that you’re gone. We met when Wayne and Syd started JK and we’ve shared those proud mom moments together ever since. You were funny and kind, and you raised a beautiful son with Corey. Rest in peace, my friend.

Much love from, Jeanine, Jason, and Sydney Lloyd

It is with such a heavy heart that I have to say goodbye to such a beautiful soul. Mel always made it a point to come say hi whenever I visited Kathy. I am so honored to have shared some great times celebrating birthdays and going to the movies. My heart goes out to you Kathy and to Corey and Wayne. Mel will be truly missed. RIP Mel who is now pain free and with the angels.

Sorry to hear of Chips passing, or Going Home.
Melanie was a great scouter, when we needed a few great scouters. Always in it for the youth and willing to give as much as she could. She made a difference every meeting, every sleepover or camp. She even wore the silly hat.
I am glad to see Wayne towering over all of us these days.

I was shocked to hear about Mel’s passing. She was an amazing friend to me, like a mom. She was there for me during some of my hardest moments and she never asked anything in return. I’ll always have the tattoo we got together as well as many messages and memories. I’ll miss you terribly my Mel..

Almost 23 years ago. I met a person who could read my mind. We were just that close soully. We built a life together. Had a beautiful son. Raised 3 dogs. Then it ended suddenly. I fought every step of the way, until there were no more steps. I will always love you, my angel. I’m heartbroken beyond anything I’ve experienced. I miss you so much! – your soul mate

My condolences to family and friends. She was an amazing woman and was always a bright soul to be around. I got the pleasure to become close with her and her son through work. We would spend hours talking about my future career path and she always told me to do anything that came to mind so that I would never regret my decisions later in life. I think about what she told me all the time.
