It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Dawn Smith - a
resident of Woods Park in Barrie - formerly of Windsor, Ontario. Mary was
diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver, cancer and dementia, and succumbed to
her illnesses comfortably in her sleep - in her home as she had wished -
Friday morning, November 29th, 2024. She was 86 years old.
Mary was born in Cambridge, England on June 10th, 1938. Mary is survived
by her son Stephen and wife Cindy - her daughter Laurie, grandson Derek,
wife Kayla, great-grandson Harrison, great-granddaughter Isla - and youngest
grandson Jordan. Mary is also survived by her sister-in-law Ann Robinson and
her family in England - as well as Bridget Smith and her family - also in
England.
Mary is pre-deceased by her loving husband Derek, brother David, and eldest
grandson Ricky.
Mary loved working in her garden and made sure that it was kept
immaculately appointed until her unfortunate passing. She always left a
cheerful, lasting impression wherever she went - as evidenced by a large
circle of friends, acquaintances and fond memories. Mary also enjoyed
singing, reading, a fun game of shuffle-bowling with her Retirement Home
friends, and a good cup of tea. Mary was truly a one-of-a-kind gem of a lady.
Rest in peace Mary. Your husband Derek is waiting for your warm embrace
and infectious smile. XO.
