It is with profound sadness that the family of Margaret Thomson announce her passing on August 12th, 2023 at the age of 79.

Margaret will remain present and lovingly remembered in the hearts of her entire family and many friends.  She is survived by her son, Todd Thomson (Darlene), daughter, Leanne (Gary) Leonard; sisters, Helen (Chris) Christou, Catherine (late Floyd) Kay; and brother-in-law, Dan (late Maureen) Martin.  Margaret was the proud grandmother/nana of Jordan (Jesse) Sulmona, Jessey Leonard (Kaitlin), and Bailey Thomson (Faith); and loving great nana of Oliver Sulmona.  She was adored and cherished by several nieces and nephews, and will be dearly missed by long-time family friend, John Burke.  Margaret is pre-deceased by her parents, Tom and Alice Findlay, and sister Maureen Martin.

Margaret was born in Dumbarton, Scotland on October 15th, 1943 and immigrated to Toronto ON in 1948.  After marrying she settled in Barrie, ON in 1973 where she continued what would be nearly a 50-year successful career in the finance industry.

An inspiring example of a true kindred spirit, Margaret was fulfilled by her immense love of family, friends, and home.  She cherished the simple pleasures of holiday traditions, gardening, birds, family pets, and old movies.  Margaret supported several charities and was a member of the St John Vianney Catholic Women's League for several years.

Special thanks to: Home and Community Care Simcoe and their many partners especially St. Elizabeth Health Care and Bayshore Home Health, Dr K. Emerson of Royal Victoria Hospital, and to Margaret's loving niece, Trisha Axford, for the exceptional, at home, support and care.

A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at the Army and Navy Airforce Club at 52 Morrow Rd, Unit 365, Barrie, on October 14th, 2023 from 1-4 pm..  Donations, in memory of Margaret, to the PETA (People for the ethical treatment of animals) organization or to a local animal rescue would be greatly appreciated.  Online memories and condolences may be shared at www.peacefultransition.ca

I’m so sorry to hear of Marg’s passing. I worked with her for several years, she was truly incredible. Marg knew every inch of our office and how do to everything, we always joked that she ran the office not our manager. It was a privilege to work with her, she taught all of us so much and set the bar for those that came after her. To her family, she always spoke of you with great pride, all the best to you at this time.

Thank you for the kind words Gene. She really was the heartbeat of that place wasn’t she! She sure loved working with you and would always tell me that you kept her smiling and laughing at work!
She was a tremendous example of friendship and work ethic all at once. She is missed more than I can possibly say.

She was soooo fond of you as well Shaney. Lots of great memories and you always made her laugh with your charming antics:) She was there for everybody, but I was also so lucky to have friends who watched out for my mom as well.

Nothing you love is ever really lost. Loved ones will always have to leave you, sooner or later. You cannot keep them with you forever any more than you can hold onto the moonlight.
But when they have touched your soul and you keep them alive in your memories; then they are still yours. You never really lose the ones that you hold lovingly inside your heart.

I know that there are never the right words that will ease your sorrow. You will always cherish the love and your beautiful memories of your wonderful mother who was so much more to so many others. You will see her in sunsets and rainbows and flowers that bloom for she is not gone, she is now everywhere you look. And she will be with you always. Her legacy lives on in you, Todd, Jordan and Jessey, Oliver and all the lives that she touched.
Wishing and sending love and peace for you and your family.
    Stacey & Sheridan
