Funeral Details: Celebration of Life a later time
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our mother Margaret A Crook (McDermid). Mom passed on Friday December 28, 2018. She was only 66.
Mom's passing was sudden but not unexpected after a courageous fight with a lengthy illness. Our wonderful father and her loving husband Dave was by her side at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre to comfort her in her final moments.
While our mom was born in Sudbury ON, Barrie is where she spent most of her life. She always held a deep connection to her family & childhood memories in Collingwood, Grand Valley and Lively close to her heart.
Mom enjoyed reminiscing about her years of playing concerts and traveling Europe with her close friends and bandmates from Central Collegiate (LABOR OMINIA VINCIT).
It was around the end of school the at age of 17 our mom & dad met. He was from then on, and always remained, her best friend & one true love. He lovingly cared for our mom over the years and this year they celebrated 46 years of marriage.
Mom is now peacefully reunited with our little sister and beloved daughter Courtney, her brother Kevin as well as her Mom Margaret & Dad Dougald McDermid.
She will be missed deeply by Dad and our whole family: Son, David (Connie), Daughter, Shelby (Stuart). Loved Nana to Mackenzie, Hunter, William & Owen. Dear sister to Justice Dougald (Julie) McDermid, Ron (Mary) McDermid. Aunt to Ann (Gord), Douglas (Michelle), Paul, Rick (Angie), Jeanette (Steve), Diane (John).
Mom’s quick wit and memorable laugh will be missed by many extended family and friends.
As per mom’s request, we will be having a private memorial for the family.
If so desired, donations could be made to the Arthritis Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
