Lloyd Rhoderick Dolan

January 17, 1941 - April 16, 2025

Funeral Details:  A celebration of life will be held in Lindsay, Ontario in June 2025.

It is with the heaviest of hearts that the family of Lloyd Rhoderick Dolan announce his passing on April 16, 2025 at the age of 84 years. Lloyd was born on January 17, 1941 in Lindsay, Ontario to Ralph and Joyce (nee Haight) Dolan. He resided in Lindsay for 81 years before relocating to be closer to family in the Barrie area, where he passed.

Lloyd is now reunited with his beloved wife Saundra (nee Wannamaker), who predeceased him in 2005. He will forever hold a place in the hearts of his daughter Julie Schweitzer (Ken), son Jason Dolan (Judith), granddaughters Cayleigh, Holly, and Allyson Schweitzer, grandson Cody Dolan, and great-grandchildren Arlen and Indie Kharseev. Lloyd is survived by his sister Sandra Skobleniak (Paul), brothers Michael (Karen) and Pat (Sue) Dolan, sister-in-law Bonnie Crowley (Arnold), and many nieces and nephews.

Lloyd worked at General Motors for 38 years. He enjoyed driving and carried workers back and forth from Lindsay to Oshawa in his van for decades. Following his retirement from GM, he drove school buses for Laidlaw for 6 years.

Lloyd pursued a variety of hobbies throughout his life. He was a self-taught guitar player who played and sang country music for his family and friends. He was our own Kenny Rogers. Lloyd was a skilled woodworker and worked on projects both big and small. He had a steady hand and created beautiful pieces of gingerbread house trim and templates that Saundra then painted. He was an avid camper and travelled across Canada from coast to coast and through the eastern states. He had an amazing memory and could recall the names of all highways he’d driven on and the remotest towns he’d passed through. He always had a crossword puzzle on the go and was an avid reader of mystery novels. He used lots of funny expressions and had an incredible knack for remembering obscure facts.

Lloyd was the epitome of strength in his last months on this earth and passed his final days courageously and without complaint. Be at peace now, Dad.  We hope you're dancing in the sky. We hope you're singing in the angel's choir.
