Linda in her 82nd year passed away peacefully Saturday March 26 at Amica Little Lake after a brief battle with cancer.
The staff at Amica treated Linda and her family with dignity and compassion and the family is eternally grateful. The family would also like to thank the staff at RVRHC and Baycrest Hospital for the excellent care they gave Linda. She charmed them all with her sense of humour and positive attitude.
Linda was born in Noranda Quebec to Florence (nee Mackenzie) and Hugh Bresnehan and was younger sister to Irene. She grew up in Thornhill Ontario until she married Keith Witherspoon and moved to the Family Farm in Purpleville, Ontario. Together they raised 3 children. Everyone was always welcome. There were parties, corn roasts, snowmobiling, arts and crafts, swimming in the pool and gardening. They enjoyed all that living in the county had to offer. In 1982 she found herself on her own and moved back to the Thornhill area. When she retired, she moved to Barrie and then to Angus in 2014.
Linda enjoyed nature, a special love of water and her summers at the family cottage on Skeleton Lake swimming and fishing with family and friends where most memorable. She had two passions in life her children and art. Linda was a very gifted artist. She painted many Landscapes and portraits in oil and was a regular at craft shows with her folk art and whimsical painted gourds.
Linda will be greatly missed by children Eileen Verdin (Gary), Maureen Uprichard (Murray), Heath Witherspoon (Bev). Grandchildren, Laura Bionda (Paul), Alyssa Verdin (Oliver), Jacqueline Uprichard (Pat), Danielle Uprichard, Matthew, Steven (Kandice). Great grandchildren Lauren, Mya, Victoria and Avery. Plus extended family, friends and those who also called her as Mom or grandma.
When you speak of her, speak not with tears, for thoughts of her should not be sad.
As pre-arranged Linda has been cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held at the Army, Navy, Air Force Club on Saturday, May 28, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Canadian cancer society in her memory. Posted on: Tuesday, April 12, 2022Linda was my second mom growing up and to this day I am amazed with how she tolerated me creating havoc in her household. Swimming until water logged, staying up late to watch SNL, eating frozen twinkies, saving baby bunnies and in general having the best time under her watchful loving eye. I remember her art and her garden. Maureen, Heath, Eileen- I am sending my love to all of you and thinking of you during this difficult time.
Love Jocelyn

Posted on: Tuesday, July 19, 2022I am truly saddened by Linda’s passing. She was a friend that I cared for deeply. I have searched over the past months for her contact information and just found this notice. She was an amazing, talented person and I will never forget the wonderful times we spent together when we lived in Thornhill, the eleven o’clock coffee she loved to drink and the long phone calls we shared together. Being with, laughing and talking to Linda was a joy in my life that I will never forget and I will cherish always.
My deepest condolences to her family.
You are deeply missed Linda!
