Posted on: Wednesday, April 2, 2025I am deeply saddened to learn about the loss of your Dad. My thoughts and prayers are with you and you families during this difficult time. I had the privilege of working with your Dad’s leadership at Patrick Forgarty High School . He was instrumental in shaping the future of our school, and I worked with him in the temporary portapack and portables. His kindness and support to his staff were so valued. I also have fond memories of renting his beautiful cottage on Eagle Lake, which was a testimony to his generosity .
Please accept my sincere condolences. May the memories of his kindness and his leadership live on in our hearts.
Sincerely Catherine McCullough

I was sorry to see Larry’s death notice this week and it brings back a flood of memories. Larry was a good teacher and coach and soon became was one of the most popular teachers after he came to teach algebra at Central Collegiate. I loved math but had trouble when they put the “alphabet in math class”. Mr. Giroux helped me through it. It wasn’t until I was married with my own kids that I really started to appreciate the character that God placed in Larry. He became a friend. He along with you wanted to “just help others”. Jane and I will never forget the book you gave us after Jane’s best friend died.
Please receive our prayers for you and your family as you grieve for the loss of your best friend, their father and their Grandpa.

Posted on: Saturday, April 5, 2025So sorry to hear about Larry’s passing. “Loopy” as we affectionately called him when he coached our basketball team was a wonderful example for us. He worked hard and had a great sense of humour. He laughed at our stupid jokes such as opening both back doors on the car to let the train through as we went over railway tracks on the way back from a game and having a funeral set up for the “late Loopy Giroux” when he was late for morning practice. RIP my friend. I’ll always remember you and your laugh with fondness.
With condolences to his large family,
Regards, Doug Young.
