With heavy hearts, we announce that on January 25, 2025, beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend Julia Saradoc passed away. In accordance with her wishes, a private cremation has taken place.
Affectionally known by many as Jules, she was a gifted painter, profoundly passionate about those she loved, music, reading, animals and Carol Burnett. Born Julia Frances Bodnar in Toronto on March 5, 1936, to Ukrainian immigrant parents, most of her life and work focused on helping and caring for others.
Julia was happily married to her soulmate Nick Saradoc from November 1966 until his passing in September 2005. Her only child Anastasia was the love of her life and by her side when she passed at Trillium Manor Long Term Care Home in Orillia, where she had lived since last spring due to Alzheimer’s and other health issues. The family is grateful she was in such wonderful hands at Trillium Manor, following the loving and devoted care of her daughter in the years prior.
She was a proud supporter of the pursuits and passions of her child, with Julia and Nick’s home a place where Anastasia’s friends were welcomed, and countless special memories created. Julia formed beautiful and lifelong friendships through the years in Toronto and Barrie as people were drawn to her kindness, warmth and fabulous sense of humour. Being a fur-Baba to several rabbits, dogs and cats was another source of tremendous joy.
Julia will be deeply and forever missed by her daughter Anastasia, her brother Ron and too many precious family and friends to mention. We are all blessed for the cherished times and adventures we got to share with her. Now may she rest in peace reunited with Nick and others dear to her.
I carry your heart; I carry it in my heart.
We invite you to join us for a Celebration of Life on Sunday, March 16 from noon to 3 p.m. at Columbus Hall, 93 Berczy Street, Barrie. It will be an afternoon of Ukrainian food, photos, stories, music, support, love and laughter to remember Julia by.
If you need help arranging a ride to Barrie or would like to say a few words or share a story at the event or join the event virtually, please email your contact information to info@ptsimcoe.ca . All emails will be forwarded to Anastasia.

Posted on: Sunday, February 2, 2025I am so sorry to hear of your loss.
She was a good friend to me while she lived here in Mississauga, where she was my neighbour for a few years.
Always willing to help out, kind, a good sense of humour. I missed her when she left us here and will think of her fondly.
My deepest condolences to you, Anastasia.
