Joseph Charles Farrugia passed away on December 4 at the age of forty-three in Barrie, Ontario. Joe was a gentle soul, who cared deeply about people and animals. He had a brilliant sense of humour and an infectious laugh. He will be deeply missed by his family, especially his mother Rosemary, step-father Ross, younger brother Cameron, his step-brother Josh, his grandmother, many aunts, uncles and cousins, and his cat Cheeba. He will also be missed by his friends, as well as his former coworkers at Faurecia, where he was a long-time employee. Some of Joe’s favorite memories were travelling to Malta with his dad Charlie and spending time in Kaslo, British Columbia, with his aunt and uncle. Joe will live on in our hearts, and in his vibrant paintings and his impressive Star Wars memorabilia collection. In lieu of flowers, please pay it forward and do something nice for someone, as Joe would have wanted.
Though we grieve our loss, there is joy, too, in having known and loved such a special person.
Join us to remember together and share our best memories and moments.

Posted on: Wednesday, December 12, 2018We are so very sorry to hear of your loss. Joe attended high school with our son Richard.
The 4 amigos; Joe, Erin, Brandon & Richard would all gather for lunch at our house and eat all the home made cookies.
A couple of times they showed up on Saturday morning to help bake and replenish the cookie jar, yes, they actually did bake.
We lost track of Joe after high school but he then he moved back into the neighborhood and we would often see him puttering around in his yard doing his gardening.
I now say a prayer for Joe each time I walk by his house.
His memory will live on.

Posted on: Wednesday, December 12, 2018Thinking of you all, the loss of Joe is just heart-wrenching. I have many good memories of the time he spent with us in Kaslo, it was like having a big brother for a year! I still have (and will always have) a painting he did during that time. An abstract oil painting that I loved so much, my mom let me take it with me to college. It has lived in full view on every single living room wall I’ve ever had, every time I look at it, I’ve thought of Joe.
Much love,
Rachael

You may or may not know that our family too have faced such a tragedy and we can only provide a shoulder to lean on. Although I have not seen Joseph since he was a little boy, I have known and loved the Christie family since I was about 4 years old; my family loved you all and we are attached by wonderful memories of our childhoods. I am moved beyond words and loving the beautiful memories shared by his friends and loved ones here Mosie, and look forward to hearing about your beautiful Joe on May 4th. We will be there for you.
