Passed away at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie on Friday, September 29, 2023 at the age of 77.
Born on March 18, 1946 in Toronto where he grew up and continued living in the GTA until moving to Norland in the City of Kawartha Lakes in 1975. It was on 86 acres he purchased where he fulfilled his dream of building a family home for himself, his wife and three children. John found his piece of heaven there in the peaceful countryside that allowed him the opportunity to partake in his passion for hunting, fishing, gardening and maple syrup with a sugarbush onsite.
John was the beloved husband of the late Linda Susan Cook (nee Keen); and cherished father to Tracey Brohm (Dan Brohm), Jason Cook (Jess Cook), and Amy Dyal (Don Robichaud); and adored Grampa (grandfather) to Caleb Brohm (Ashley Brohm), Emma Brohm, Liam Brohm (Olivia Duquette), Jacob Cook, Kirsty Cook, Chase Cook, Emily Cook, Matthew Cook, Dakota Cook, Danika Cook, Bruno Postnikoff, Nikki Dyal, Noah Dyal, Keely Robichaud, Peyton Robichaud and Emilie Robichaud; as well as great grandfather to Cali Deschamps and Poppy Deschamps. Dear brother to Shirley Mills (previously deceased) and Pam Roslinsky (Peter Roslinsky) and brother-in-law to James Keen. Son of Reginald and Winnifred Cook (predeceased) and son-in-law to Raymond and Letiva Keen (predeceased). John will also be forever loved and remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Posted on: Thursday, October 12, 2023Sending my condolences to all of the Cook family. Some of my fondest childhood memories were at uncle John’s and aunt Lynn’s, jumping off the roof into the snow, playing on the skidoos, ATV’s, and go carts. Uncle John and aunt Lyn, we’re always there with open arms, welcoming us, making it some of the best memories of my childhood. Uncle John also lived with us for many years while he worked in the city and lived up north. His favourite tag line “groovy kids” was always good for a chuckle and I loved that no matter how old he and my dad got he always called him bucko with such endearment. He was a wonderful soul that will forever be remembered by all who were lucky enough to get to spend time with him. Rest easy with Auntie Lyn dear Uncle John and know that your memory will forever be cherished. Thank you for such great childhood fun and such fond memories xo
