John McCormick 1930-2017
John McCormick was born on June 12, 1930 in Glasgow, Scotland. He resided in Stirling until he came to Canada in 1953, making Orillia his home since 1974.
How do you fit a life of 87 years into just a few lines? John loved life. His family meant the world to him. He was the best Dad in the world. He was interested in many things as was seen in his collection of books. He painted, played music, and golfed whenever he had the chance. He was very interested in people as well and showed kindness to his many, many friends. His great sense of humour lasted up until his last days. His family and friends will miss him immensely.
He is survived by his wife Eldene and their children, Kelley (Andy), Alison, John (Stacey) and Elisabeth. He will be missed by eight grandchildren (their spouses), six great grandchildren, special cousins, Malcolm & Grace, and friends, Angela, Anne & Elmer, and Monika & Alex.
A special thank you to Dr. Mike Odlozinski, Emily Greb, NP, and Dr. Heather Laakso. A thank you to all the doctors, nurses, PSW's, friends and neighbours for their wonderful support.
There will be no funeral service as per John's wishes, however, there will be a drop in Celebration of Life on Saturday September 16th, 2017 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Leacock Senior's Care Centre, 25 Museum Drive, Orillia, ON. Please drop by to share a memory or two with the family and reminisce about this wonderful, talented man.
