Milne, John Arthur
On January 12, 2021, we lost a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle. John (Jack) died peacefully with family by his side in Toronto, Ontario. He was born April 29, 1937, the youngest child of George and Gladys Milne (nee Hirons). John is survived by his wife Elaine, his 3 children Kathryn (Stephen), David (Nancy), Jay (Kenne-Anne), sister Lois, brother- in-law Ted, many nieces and nephews. He will be fondly remembered by his 7 grandchildren Kassandra (Mark), Nicole (Chad), Kelly (Jody), Gary (April), Allison (Chris), Kyle, Hanna and his 9 great-grandchildren, Logan, Maddison, Owen, Dexter, Lylia, Abby, Keith, Emmett, Hudson (and one almost here!). Jack was welcomed and will be missed by Elaine’s extended family. He will be missed dearly by a special caregiver, and friend, Krystyna. We sincerely thank Krystyna for all she has done and continues to do for our family. He is predeceased by his brothers Bill and Ted, sister Jean, niece Linda and nephew Mark. John was owner of J Plumbing in Barrie, Ontario before passing it along to his son David. He was actively involved in the local community through Kiwanis. He spent many hours at his grandchildren’s sporting and musical events. He was an avid tennis player, golfer, world traveller and photographer. He relished in his time with the Etobicoke Camera Club and preparing photos, especially when it meant a trip around the world with Kent and Ellen. He cherished each visit, phone call and trip with Walter and Peggy. He appreciated his time with the Mimico Cruising Club friends and “The Maple Leaf” gang. Thank-you to the Bluewater Court family. We give thanks to all of Jack’s friends near and far, who are too numerous to mention, but you know who you are. Thank you to Dr. Palarski, Dr. Fischer, Dr. Chawla, Dr. Warde, Dr. Jiang, Dr. Al-Awamer, Dr. Morrison and Dr. Gabel. Thank you to the friends at Mimico Pharmacy. Everyone will remember him for his infectious smile, laugh, hugs and his outpouring of love and compassion. In his final days he really got to see the inspiration and love he brought to people’s lives. Jack is someone who enriched our lives simply because we knew him. An incredible role-model to all. At John’s request, cremation has taken place. Family members will celebrate John’s life privately at this time. Should you wish in honour of John, to give a donation to a charity of your choice, it would be greatly appreciated, as John always did so much from his heart. Posted on: Tuesday, January 19, 2021Jack was a good friend, a wonderful gentle and kind man, and loved to have a good time with his family and friends. His sense of humour was still evident on his last day as we said, “We’ll see you on the other side.” We knew Jack and Elaine from our mutual yacht club, Mimico Cruising Club. Nick enjoyed showing Jack the ropes of sailing and we both enjoyed happy times with Jack, Elaine and friends. We miss you already!
