Jessie Kay

1941-11-29 - 2015-03-16

Funeral Details:

Kay, Jessie

Passed away so very peacefully at her home on Monday March 16 2015 in her 74th year. She was surrounded by family and friends and her Pastor. Survived by her husband Robert Kay.  Much loved Mom to Kim, Leigh, Shauna and Doug (d.1983). Cherished Mumma to Kayla, Jake, Brianne, Tyler and Lexi. Predeceased by brother Ken Thom (d.Nicole) and survived by sister Susan Ota (Mike) and brother Norman Thom (Alice). She will be missed by her neices Michelle and Danielle and nephews Mark, Adam and David plus many extended family. Much gratitude to nurse Christine and love and special thanks to Michelle.

Jessie emigrated from Scotland in 1953 and through her life held various jobs such as waitressing, real estate agent and owner/operator of Jessie's Country Diner in Barrie. However, no job was as more important to Jessie than that of raising her children. A dedicated Mom who loved her children with complete and utter devotion. No grandchildren were luckier than Jessie’s. Mumma was their art teacher, their life coach and their play companion. She was also a treasured Mumma to many of her grandchildren's friends. She taught us all about her faith and love of God. She taught us to stop and marvel at a beautiful night sky, an interesting cloud or a unique pebble on the beach. Most of all she taught us unconditional love.

There were many challenges in Jessie's life which she faced with honesty, grace, strength and bravery. Mom had a fearless determination to overcome her obstacles. She would credit these strengths to her God whom she loved so much. She was the person we went to for advice and comfort which always ended in a great big hug.
