James John Burns

I had the pleasure of meeting Nadine’s dad only a few times but let me tell you he really made me laugh and feel like I had known him forever!! My thoughts are with all his wonderful family !!!

I was deeply saddened to hear of Jim’s passing, and will forever mourn his loss.
To me, Jim was the quick-witted father of one of my best friends. He enriched my life and all those around him through his (hilarious and rarely appropriate) humour, his thoughtful kindness, and his genuine welcoming and easy going nature. He created the kind of home environment that my friends and I would visit even without Diane’s presence, we loved being around Jim and Maria so much.
To the Burns Family, my thoughts and heart are with you at this terrible time.

I work with Diane and have heard a few stories about her Dad. Sounds like there were lots of laughs in the Burns household. My sincerest condolences to Diane, Nick and the Burns family at this sad time.

Diane, my sincerest condolences to you and your family. It is obvious that your father was a true and loved patriarch of your family.

I know that he will be missed greatly, but your memories and family traditions that he helped start will carry on. May God continue to Bless you and your family.

I had the opportunity to first meet Jim forty six years ago while dating his sister Francie

A year later we were both in his wedding to Maria. A month after that Francie and I were married and Jim

gave me the gears claiming we had two rehearsals and he had only one. That was Jim’s humour.

To the family, we will see you at the celebration of Jim’s life and speak to you individually but wanted to say

this in this forum.

Jim, we will miss you like crazy, you were a rough and grouse man on the outside sometimes but inside was a

heart of gold. We like to say a nugget. Pure gold.

What you did for Francie in her stay in the transplant hospital will never be forgotten. All the calls you made

since to her every Monday night was just another example of the brother you were.

God speed Jim. Was proud to have known you all those years.

I’m still in shock over this.
I cannot believe it.
He was one of a kind.
Probably one of my most favorite uncle’s.
I will never forget his humour.
I visited him a few days after his surgery and was under the impression he was going to be fine.
He was joking around as he always did and had a positive outlook on his rehabilitation.
He was a good uncle and great dad.
He will always be in my heart and will be missed by all of us.
Say hi to gramps Uncle Jim and rest in peace.

Where do I start? Well I can start with this…Gym and all the Burnses have been like a second family to me and neighbors for over 30 years, Gym made us laugh (a lot), cry, run, and hide at times growing up lol! I don’t think I will ever come across a character quite like him again in my lifetime. He raised 7 amazing kids that I love dearly and a wife that the whole street (Nantyr) looked up to like a second mom! From the pool parties to the street parties to the Christmas parties and everything in between we all loved him! Gym and Maria stepped up to support my father and mother this past winter during my dads battle with cancer and gave one hell of a speech at my dads celebration of life this spring that I will never forget! Gym I love you! You will definitely be missed but definitely never forgotten! Cheers up in the sky and I’m sure you and my dad are having a cold one together! RIP my friend!

My deepest sympathies in your time of grief. I worked with Jim at Autosystems and he always knew how to make me laugh, with his continual spilling of coffee on my filing cabinet on purpose so I could give him trouble. He was a great man and was always kind to me. I enjoyed his emails that he would send me with pics of his grandkids and the occasional joke too. He will be sadly missed!

Jim was very bright, strong and so cheerful. We built a good trust between ourselves and a wonderful relationship, it was a privilege to be his accountant. We wish that God bless him and give strength to his family. He will be missed!

I had the chance to meet my cousin Jim on 1 occasion while in Adelaide (Australia) just those few hours at Gerards place Jim left his mark and that is not surprising in reading all the wonderful comments of other people. I have known Jim since we started working together at Magna in 1994. He was passionate about his family, his trade and the people and business of his company. He was loyal and hard working and loved nothing more than to chat about how to make everything better after work over a beverage. Jim was one of the good ones…..we will miss his sense of humour and his love of life
