James “Jim” Andrew Fleming

December 16, 1943 - September 5, 2024

Funeral Details: A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James “Jim” Fleming at the age of 80 on September 2, 2024, following a long-fought battle with cancer.

Jim was a loving brother to Robert (Molly), a devoted father to Emily (Jesse), and Andrew (Nicole), and a cherished grandfather to Ellie, Jack, and Beckett.  He found immense joy in his family, always sharing his love and wisdom.

It brings us all great comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with the love of his life, Lucy.

In addition to running a successful ServiceMaster franchise for many years, he was deeply involved in Scouting and Rotary, where he dedicated countless hours to service and community building.

Once retired, Jim was always ready to lend a hand and share his wisdom.  As a man of many talents, Jim enjoyed building decks and docks for friends and neighbours.

His favourite place on earth was the cottage on Union Jack Island, where he spent many happy years enjoying the tranquility of “the Pool”.  When friends and family visited, the air was often filled with laughter as he regaled everyone with his stories and jokes.  His sense of humor and storytelling ability were legendary, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Jim will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.  His legacy of love, laughter, and service will continue to inspire and guide us.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held in the near future, where we can gather to honor his memory and share cherished memories and stories.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Canadian Cancer Society or Movember Canada.

Rest in peace, Jim.  You will be deeply missed but your spirit will live on in our hearts forever.

I have such happy memories of our visits to Jim, and of his visits to us in Scotland.
Plus when we met in Richmond Virginia. John and Jim managed to get together on Jim’s journey north from New Orleans and our journey up the east coast.

Jimmy will always be present in so many ways on Gloucester Pool. A crazy laugh that mimicked his zest for life. Jimmy always loved company and happiness he instilled no matter who he was bumping into. Jimmy always had a smile with a quick joke. Miss you buddy!!

Andrew and Emily, I am so sorry for the loss of your father. It sounds as though he was a man of service who valued family and community (and his beloved cottage).

I am so very sorry to hear of the passing of your dear Dad Emily and Andrew.
I talked to him a few times over the past few years as Matt and I had had a lot of fun times with him and your dear Mom Lucy.
He seemed to enjoy the retirement residence but the last time I talked to him he told me he was not good.
Perhaps he and Matt will share a beer together in the time beyond. He too passed away on September 5th but 6 years ago.
My loving thoughts are with you and all the family.
    RIP Jim ❤️🌺
