I am a teacher’s kid too and it’s such a pleasure to learn how much impact our fathers had on their students.  Mr. Childs was a patient teacher and I remember him as being kind – the best quality in a teacher in my opinion.   As difficult as this stage in life is I hope you can take some comfort in knowing he will be remembered by many.  My sincerest condolences to Jana and all of the Childs family.

Sympathies to the family. I knew both Brad and Jana from Kirkfield Public School. My mother Linda Druery was Brad’s teacher.
I recall when the family began converting the old Peffer mill into their home. You may be happy to know that it is still maintained and has in fact just gone through another restoration. I also recall that the family made canoes.

I sometimes wonder what has become of many of the young people I went to school with, so I wanted to respond when I read Mr. Child’s obituary.

As for me, I married a local man and our home is actually just about 1/2 km south of the old mill. I am a community nurse and have made frequent visits into that home over the years.

    Blessings to the family,

    Darlene Mulock

Only by chance did I learn of the passing of Mr. Childs and wish to offer my sincerest condolences. We all have vivid memories of a special teacher that stay with us years later – very few teachers leave such an indelible mark as Mr. Childs.  His knowledge of his craft, attention to detail and the passion for his students shone brightly and made you want to be the best student/person you could be.  He instilled these attributes which I carry with me to this day.  My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
