IRVING, Heather Lynne (Kennedy)
1947-2015 Passed away peacefully in her Barrie home, with her family by her side on Wednesday, October 28th 2015 at the age of 68. Heather was the beloved wife of John Irving, and loving mother of Stacey (Doug), Julie (Thomas), John-Michael (Jenna) and Jacqueline (Matt). She adored her grandchildren Kennedy and Morgan. She will be missed by many, but especially her younger brother Douglas Kennedy, his wife Vanessa and children Robert, Christine and Stephanie.
Ever the fighter, she fought Multiple Myeloma for 15 years with the support of the wonderful doctors, nurses, clinical trial coordinators and other health care personnel at both Princess Margaret Hospital and RVH. She chose to live each day with a passion for life and a courage for living.
A Requiem Mass will be held for family and friends on Wednesday, November 4th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 65 Amelia St, Barrie from 10-11 am, followed by a Celebration of Life from 11am – 1pm also at St. Mary’s.

She and I got to know each other well over many years and how brave she was to every Thursday morning, meet and greet and support families dealing with end of life issues, all the time, wondering when her treatment options would be used up. She was gracious and lovely and always had her lipstick on, putting her face in front of all the discomfort she undoubtedly felt. Her wit and smile were contagious. I loved bantering with her. To John, Stacy, Julie, John-Michael and Jacqueline, may God’s presence console you in your grief, but sometimes words fail. You are such a wonderful family, and John, your kids have all grown up, have partners, and children. I was your next door neighbour until 1993, with Ed and Margaret Annie playing with your children.
