Gerda Simmons

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Gerda Simmons on October 31, 2024, at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie, Ontario.

Born on December 10, 1936, Gerda was a loving mother, proud grandmother, and cherished friend. She will be deeply missed by her son, Arthur Hutzelmann, and her beloved granddaughters, Jessica and Katrina Hutzelmann, who brought endless joy to her life. Gerda also leaves behind her siblings, Valentin Keller (Marianne) and Arthur Keller (Lois), as well as her niece, Tamara Green (Brian), and nephew, Sascha Keller.

She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Donald Paul Simmons, and her mother, Else Keller, whose memories she treasured deeply.

Gerda was known for her warm and generous spirit, especially when it came to her granddaughters, whom she adored and delighted in spoiling. She was happiest in the kitchen, sharing her love through cooking, or tending to her garden at the family cottage. Later in life, Gerda embraced her adventurous side, finding joy in travel and exploring new places.

Her family and friends will forever cherish her kind heart, sharp wit, and the countless memories she created with them.
