George “Laurie” Chaplin

George Lawrence Chaplin, “Laurie” to his family and friends, passed away peacefully at his home in Barrie, Ontario on Sunday, March 9^th, 2025 in his 83^rd year, surrounded by friends.

Laurie was a man who enjoyed hunting, fishing, the great outdoors, and being outside by his favourite Butternut tree on his property.  He was full of life, enjoyed company while entertaining everyone with his humour and witty banter.

During the week before his passing, he was reunited with his older brother, Lawrence, younger brother, Robert, and niece, Zoe.  Very memorable to all present. He is survived by his son Allan, daughter Lorri-Anne, and their families including grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A Celebration of his Life will take place on a later date. Special thanks to his companion and caregiver, Ellen Lee McCulloch, for helping Laurie through his journey with love and support.
We are grateful to Dr. Zachary Veitch and the oncology nurses at RVH for their compassionate support, we also want to thank the Bayshore Care nurses for their kindness and compassion.
