Fiona MacLeod

Funeral Details:

Fiona Macleod passed away peacefully in her 74th year on June 13th, 2018 in Barrie, Ontario. Fiona was surrounded by family, and final breaths were taken holding hands with her beloved grandchildren Morgan Heffron (11), and Mason Heffron (8).

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Fiona immigrated to Canada at 21 years of age. Known as the Queen of the Fleet, she retired at the age of 70, after 30 years of service as an Administrator of Fleet Services with the Ontario Provincial Police. She was a respected member of both the Scottish Connection and Barrie British Club, and proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion (147), where she took great pride in her ticket sales.

Gaga, as she liked to be called by her grandchildren, will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a devoted grandmother, trusted confidant, and a kind hearted soul who always extended a helping hand to those in need. Fiona was a selfless, energetic, vibrant individual, who went out of her way to make others happy. She had a love of grocery shopping, bus tours, fish suppers, and rolls and sausage.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to her doctors at both the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre and Michael Garron Hospital, and all of the amazing nurses along this journey. A special thanks goes out to Dr. Erzsebet Kiss who went above and beyond her call of duty, and provided support to not only Fiona, but the entire family.

Please join us for a Celebration of Life beginning at 5:00pm, on Friday July 20th at the Royal Canadian Legion (Branch 147), located at 410 St.Vincent Street in Barrie. Please note entrance is off Ferris Lane. If possible, please wear a touch of purple.

For those who knew and loved her, please share a favorite memory that will be stored in a memory box and read each holiday for years to come. Memory cards will be available the day of, but please feel free to this ahead of time, or after the celebration.

In lieu of flowers, please reach out to a poor wee soul as she would call them, and lend a helping hand.
