It is with a deep sense of loss that we announce the death of Ellen Brady. She died in Barrie, Ontario, on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at the age of 66. Ellen had the privilege of living in three countries. She was born in Trinidad, lived in England for seven years, and then the family settled in Toronto. Ellen spent her adult life in New Market and Barrie, Ontario.

Ellen had a special gift for making and maintaining friendships whether they be with people across the street or around the world. If you did business with Ellen, she was soon your friend. She loved to talk on the telephone. Ellen was also generous in her giving whether to friends, to family, or to the stranger on the street who was in need. She loved children and knew how to choose the perfect gift for them—just for fun, or for something that would be educational. She was a great teacher to the children entrusted to her care through the years. Ellen was a woman of perseverance and courage. These characteristics were her allies as she faced various health challenges over the last decade.

Ellen will be remembered for her dedication to her immediate and extended family and to her many, many friends. She had a firm faith in the “Blessed Hope” of Christ’s soon return when He will gather the living and the resurrected righteous dead to everlasting life with Him. No more suffering, no more pain, no more tears.

Ellen was preceded in death by her husband Patrick Brady, and her parents Ramnarine and Alice Ramharacksingh. She is survived by her son Steven Brady of Barrie, Ontario, and her sister Esther R. Knott (Ronald) of Berrien Springs, Michigan and their daughter Olivia Ruiz-Knott (Ivan) of Denver, Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews of the Brady family.

A celebration of Ellen’s life will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. at the Barrie Seventh-day Adventist Church, located at 140 Mapleton Ave, Barrie, Ontario. Friends and family are invited to gather to share in our mutual loss and to celebrate what God has done in and through the life of this remarkable woman. https://www.adventistbarrie.org/

My husband, daughter, my church (Silver Spring SDA), and I wish peace and comfort to the entire family.

We understand the pain of this moment, but we also know God’s power to turn it into a time of gratitude and celebration for the life of someone who touched the lives of those who knew her. Though we didn’t have the privilege of knowing her, we can only imagine how amazing she was from what we’ve heard and know from our leader and friend, Ester.

May you all have a beautiful and joyful time of celebration.

    Praying for all of you.
