Surrounded by family and friends, Donna Marie McLean (Clucas) in her 71st year, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 20th 2014 at Hospice Simcoe in Barrie, ON.
Donna was the proud mom of three daughters, Michelle Austin (Peter) of Coldwater, ON, Deanna Samoleski (Darren) Delta, B.C. and Krista Tuck of Horseshoe Valley, ON. She was the dear, older sister of Joanne Irwin and the cherished grandmother of six wonderful grandchildren, Devon, Zachary, Abigail, Olivia, Quinn and Lilly.
Predeceased by her parents Anne Strachan (Pollard) and Lewis Clucas also predeceased by her older brother Robert Clucas.
Donna spent much of her life and career around her passion of animals. With her young family she bred and raced Champion Siberian Huskies in Thornton. Her love of animals continued to thrive while working as a Supervisor for the Ontario S.P.C.A. in Barrie and Orillia for many years. Many wonderful pets are comforted with her now.
The Oncology/Imaging team at RVH in Barrie deserves special gratitude for their compassionate care of Donna throughout her treatment during the last 8 years. A warm thank you goes especially to Dr. Bryn Pressnail and staff. Hospice Simcoe support staff and volunteers provided magnificent care for Donna and her family during her last days. We learned just how valuable their team was to us and other families they support during this difficult time.
We also want to show gratefulness to all of her friends with their enduring support and love they have given during her life and her illness. This means the world to her family.
As Donna requested, we will be holding a Celebration of Life for family and friends. Cremation has taken place. Her remains will be interned at Midhurst Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, we would gratefully encourage donations be made to Hospice Simcoe in Barrie www.hospicesimcoe.ca
