Donalda Barratt (Freeman) passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning of May 20th, 2022. She was 77. Donalda was an amazing wife of 43 years to Raye Barratt. The most incredible, loving mother to Bill Bell (Tanya), Elizabeth (Jamie Rowe) and Kim (Shaun Skinner). Grandmother to Tyler (Natalie), Lance, Cassidie (Tony), Dominique (Trayton), Jillian and Treyton. Her bonus grandkids Alannah, Kaitlyn, Jenna, Tyler and Mark. Our mom was predeased by her mother Muriel McBratney, father Clarence Freeman and her step-mother Lucie Freeman.
Our mom was known best for always making anyone feel special, welcomed, included and part of her family. She had an infectious smile that would light up the room and a laugh that would brighten anyone's day. Her famous saying "Oh, don't worry about me" was how she lived her life, putting others first, always before herself, including complete strangers. Mom will be greatly missed by her brother and sister-in- laws, long-time friends Barb, Donna and Jackie. All of her bank friends and neighbors.
Mom, you earned your wings long before you left us, as you were always dads angel here on earth, as well as ours. Rest easy mom, we love you! Words of condolence can be left at www.peacefultransition.ca

Posted on: Saturday, May 21, 2022We can not think of Donalda without hearing her laugh. She always saw the bright side of things even when the going was rough. She was a wonderful Sister in Law, keeping us up to date on our brother and the rest of the family. She will be missed, more than she could have ever imagined. I do hope that the family can rest easy knowing that she is no longer suffering.
Rest in Peace Donalda, Love Liz and Don

Posted on: Friday, May 27, 2022Donalda, thank you for being a big part of my upbringing; feeling loved and safe in your home was important for us neighbourhood kids and you treated us as if we were your own. Opening not only your door but your arms and heart as well. Letting us hang out in a safe space and ensuring all our needs were met while keeping us out of the trouble we tried so hard to get into. As life carried on and us kids grew up and had kids of our own I was happy to see you frequently greeting us as I brought my kids to Walmart. You have held a very special place in my heart as you have many others as well. May you be at peace knowing you have made such a wonderful impact on many people over the years.
Love Jenn (Duga) Sheppard.

Posted on: Friday, May 27, 2022I knew Donalda over a number of years at The Salvation Army in Barrie. She was a lovely person to have a conversation with. We admired her pleasant personality and her faith in Jesus. She worshipped with us and we admired her ability to be so friendly with other members of the congregation. We will miss her greatly, but know because of her faith, She is with the Lord whom she served faithfully. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ray and the Family.

She fought long and hard with her cancer but I will always remember her pleasant smile and warm manner in spite of challenges. Our church connection goes back many years and she will be missed. Posted on: Monday, June 6, 2022My sincerest sympathy to the Barrett Family. I grew up in Clinton with Donalda and we went all through school together. I knew her father Clarence and Doug and Charlotte. They were great friends of my Aunt Margaret Carter. I left Clinton in 1967 and moved to Barrie in Dec 2004. I reconnected with Donalda thru Facebook a few years ago and we had some great conversations thru messenger. It was great being in contact with someone who knew you as a child. We did a lot of “Remembering When”. I will miss our conversations and her Facebook posts. It is always so sad to lose a childhood friend.
