Deryl Thomas Harbridge

December 20, 1948 - March 28, 2025

Funeral Details: A memorial service in honour of Deryl will be held in the coming weeks

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Deryl Thomas Harbridge, who left us on March 28, 2025, at the age of 76, after a brief respiratory illness at Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital.

Deryl was the loving husband of Donna (Horne) and dedicated father to daughter Karalee and son-in-law Nathan Zarnke. He was a doting and loving Poppa to his grandchildren, Joanie and Llewyn, who brought him endless joy. He kept his grandbaby Odin in his heart.

Deryl will be deeply missed by his surviving siblings: Peggy Taylor (Bruce, deceased), Don Harbridge and his wife Gail, Kathy Armishaw and her husband David, Stephen Harbridge and his wife Karen, Calvin Harbridge and his wife Diana and Chere Harbridge. He is reunited with his siblings in heaven Barb Gardy, Blayne Harbridge (whose wife Carol is still with us) and Ned Harbridge. He will be missed by his cherished brothers and sisters in law, Marion Williams (Paul), Linda White (Bill), Carol Ruby and Frank (both deceased). He will also be dearly missed his nieces and nephews, all of whom were touched by his kindness and warmth.

A man of deep faith, Deryl was a pillar of his church and community. His love for fishing and the outdoors was only surpassed by his dedication to helping others. He spent much of his life counselling youth, providing guidance, support and wisdom to many in need. His inner strength, compassion and humility endeared him to all who were blessed to know him. Deryl's legacy is one of service, and his charitable acts will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched. Forever young at heart, his hearty laugh and sense of humour will be missed by everyone who knew him well.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations in Deryl's memory to the Orillia Lighthouse https://orillialighthouse.ca/ , in support of families in need.

As a first cousin, I thought of Deryl more like a older brother. His generosity and loving kindness was a model to me. I’m going to miss you Deryl, but I know we will see you again in eternity.

I was so sad to hear of Deryl’s sudden passing. My sincerest condolences to all his loved ones.

I have many fond memories of my first cousin Deryl throughout my childhood. Fishing at Longford Lake. Deer hunting around Silver Lake. Dropping by our house out the Muskoka Beach Road whenever we need a hand. Always smiling, always joking, always ready to listen, always there with a word of encouragement.

Deryl and my father – his Uncle Wilf – had a special bond and I bet right now Dad is helping him settle in to that majestic hunt camp in the sky, a place where the jokes and euchre games and outdoor adventures and comradery never ends.
