Derek was one of my absolute favourite postcards suppliers.  I saw him at the postcard show at Bingeman Park recently and he told me that he was not well.  He also told me that he felt he had led a very full and interesting life working at something that he loved and enjoyed doing and not everyone can say that.  Wonder what his collection in heaven will be like?  ðŸ™‚

Allison & John, it is with great respect I contact you for although my  relationship with Derek was rather short in years (6 – 7) it was very rewarding for us both. I dealt with Derek as a customer and as President of the Kitchener Waterloo Cambridge Regional Post Card Club, at our annual show. Derek was a big supporter and had enjoyed all our shows to date. We new he wasn’t feeling well in March when he attended but we assigned him a volunteer member of the club and he took many breaks to sit and relax.
He always had cards for my odd collection “W. H. Schmalz” addressed cards. as this was an early stamp collector and former Mayor of Berlin, Ont(Kitchener). Derek had even acquired some watercolour paintings that Schmalz had done and I was eager and pleased to acquire them.

My Sincere condolences go to you and your families. He was a fine gentleman, and will be missed.

    Sincerely, Leigh Hogg
