Deborah Ann Cook (nee Bauerlein)

November 2, 1956 - June 28, 2022

Funeral Details: Celebration of Life: Sun., August 14, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. the RecPlex, 1724 Mosley St., Wasaga Beach

Deborah Ann Cook passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving spouse and family at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Barrie, Ontario on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at the age of 65.  She will be greatly missed by her loving spouse, Patrick Mackle; her children Alanna (Ryan) Dufton and Timothy (Erica) Cook; her siblings Jayne (Jim) McCallum and Donnie (Joanne) Bauerlein.  Loving grandmother of Addison, Caleb, Darcy and Brody; as well as many nieces and nephews.  Also missed by sister-in-law Janice Mackle, son-in-law Patrick (Nicole) Mackle, and step-grandchildren Parker and Quintin.  Predeceased by her father, Don Bauerlein; her mother, Jean Smythe; and brother-in-law Bill McCallum.  She was full of love, understanding, caring, concern for others, generosity, and had a great sense of humor and will be held in each and every one of our hearts forever.

Debbie lived her childhood years in London Ontario where she enjoyed roller skating and bowling before moving to the beautiful Georgian Bay area in 1970.  Following her secondary school years in Wasaga Beach, she dedicated her life to family and career.  The majority of her career was at CCL Container in Penetanguishene for 20 years.  She later joined Swish Maintenance Ltd in Barrie where she has been a dedicated and valued employee and was the cornerstone of the Customer Care Team at the Barrie branch for the past 10 years.   Her loss has been deeply felt by co-workers in the Swish family and all who had the pleasure of working with her over the years. Debbie also proudly served the community’s greatest need while being an active member of the Kinette Club of Wasaga Beach for many years and always enjoyed the Kin fellowship.  She loved family gatherings and travelling to Cuba. We suspect she is now lying on the beach in Cuba with a cocktail in hand, watching the waves roll in.  Debbie’s best friends will always remember her beautiful smile, their special time spent with her and her love for life.

Many thanks for all their kind and compassionate care to the Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) Team, ICU doctors and nursing staff at Toronto General Hospital, with special thanks to Dr. John T. Granton; and ICU, Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Barrie.

A Celebration of Life will be held on the 14th of August, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Oakview Room at the RecPlex, 1724 Mosley Street, Wasaga Beach, Ontario L9Z-1Z7.

Debbie was a second mom to me growing up. Alanna and I spent many hours together, eating squeezy cheese that Debbie would bring home, chasing Bandit around the house and being driven in Debbie’s red car to school and Brownie events. I’ll miss her and the memories I have of her. Thinking of you all and hoping your memories of her bring you comfort at this time, and in the days and months ahead. Lots of love and hugs, Corrine Lalonde, Jason, Danica and Brenna Karklins.
