Debbie Ibbott passed away peacefully and surrounded by love at Southlake Village, Newmarket Ontario on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2025 in her 87th year. Debbie was the beloved wife of 56 years to Vibart George (dec. 2015) and loving mother to Michael, Natalie, Khristopher, Bernadette, Angela, George Jr., Sadie, Nick and Shari. Beloved mother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend. Beloved grandmother to 15.

Debbie was "mom" to everyone she met and she treated all of her friends, her children's friends and all those she met as if they were her own.  Although her last 10 years were a struggle with Dementia, she still had a spark in her that drew people to her.  She was kind, funny, caring, compassionate and was so creative.   Over the last few years she became quite sassy as well and that kept the staff at Southlake on their toes.  Her interactions always ended with an "I love you".

The family wishes to thank the staff of Southlake Village, specifically those on 3 East, for the care, love, and compassion they have shown to Debbie and her family over the last 7 years.

As per Debbie’s wishes, a private celebration of life will be held when the flowers are in bloom and the sun is shining.

Online condolences may be submitted below.  The family would love for you to share your stories with them.

Debbie’s wish for you is to remember her fondly, share your favourite memories, and think of her when you smell the roses. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in memory of Debbie Ibbott to Southlake Residential Care Village.

Remember when

We said when we turned gray

When the children grow up and move away

We won't be sad, we'll be glad

For all the life we've had

And we'll remember when
