CANNING, Clarence Edward in his 82nd year, passed away peacefully at Royal Victoria Hospital on Friday Sept. 18th, 2015.
Clarence leaves his loving wife of 55 years Joye Canning; his daughters Shelley Irwin (Todd Gallagher), Laurie Canning, Cindy Logan (Liam Logan); his Grandchildren Sherri-lyn Werner (Cort Werner), Kristy Irwin, Catherine Logan, Sarah Logan, Jazmyn Canning, Cameron Canning and two Great Grandchildren Logan & Avery Werner. He is also survived by his brother Alfred Canning. Predeceased by his parents Marie & Ralph Canning and brothers Aubrey & John. He will also be missed by his many friends and neighbours.
For 51 years he was resident of Minets Point, Clarence and Joye took pride in their local General Store business and 4 years later in 1968 the addition of Canning`s Fish Hut Rentals was born, which they ran for 39 years. He truly relished the friends he made during his time in business. Most recently he was known as the Public Relations guy at his wife`s Ice Cream Parlour. Clarence had a passion for Antiques, Collectibles & Old Toys.
No funeral service or visitation will be held; a dedication ceremony to follow in the Spring of 2016.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army Barrie or the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

Posted on: Tuesday, September 22, 2015To all of you, I am sorry to hear of Big C’s passing, he was a great man, everybody knew of him, and we saw that first hand when we walked down for ice cream when all of the family was in town, there was Clarence sitting out front, chatting with someone.
Remember, when the sun is out, Big C is smiling down on each of you and Minet’s point and when you are feeling the warmth, he is giving each of you a big hug. My prayers and thoughts are with you
