It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Arlene Pye, who left us peacefully on January 13, 2025, at the age of 89.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Arlene was the cherished wife of Donald Pye for 68 years, sharing a life filled with love, companionship, travel, and mutual respect. Together, they raised their four daughters and built a family that was the center of her world.
Arlene devoted her life to her family. She was a source of endless love and support to her children, Karen, Beverley (Domenic), Julie and Cathy (Ron), her 12 grandchildren, Nicole Pacheco (Aderito), Erin Bartsch (Pete), Jim Winger (Ali), Siobhan Vering (Jonathan), Michael Martino, Daniel Martino (Ashley), Tommy Murray (Ashley), Bobby Murray, Katie Dean (Lee), Matthew Botnick (Ali), Meagan Botnick (Adam) and Emily Botnick (Sam), and her 12 great grandchildren, Beatriz, Ruben, Brixton, Ridley, Liam, Grace, Aria, Isabella, Ayden, Austin, Avorie and James, who were the light of her life. Known for her warmth, kindness, and generosity, she always put others before herself and left a lasting impact on all she encountered.
Arlene grew up in the east end of Toronto and graduated from Toronto East General nursing school in 1956. Arlene worked as a nurse until she retired in 1991. She was passionate about her career and inspired her daughters to be independent.
Don and Arlene purchased their first home in Scarborough on Miramar Crescent in 1958 which would continue to be their family home until 1992. Their home is Scarborough was the place for many parties with neighbours and family gatherings and delicious Sunday roasts. In 1992 they moved to Barrie and Arlene discovered a new passion for volunteerism.
Though she is no longer with us, Arlene will live on in our hearts. Her love, her laughter, and her spirit will continue to guide us each day, and she will be missed.
We would like to extend our thanks to the entire staff of Butternut Manor in Uxbridge. Their kindness, compassion and support for Arlene was a great comfort to the family.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Uxbridge Hospital Foundation.
