With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ann Shirley Seman-O’Donal (nee Webster), who passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025, at the age of 85. She was the beloved daughter of the late Jack (John) and Muriel Webster and the devoted wife of the late George Seman (1992). Loving mother of Brian Gilmore and his wife Nancy, and Jeffrey Seman. Much loved “Grand” to Joe Gilmore, Nick Touchette, and Mirinda Touchette. Great Grand to Alex, Macaila, Madelaine, Mallory, Nathan, Levi and Hunter. Dear sister of the late David Webster (Sharon) and Mary Byers (Barry). Auntie Ann will be missed by her nieces Kelly Hammond (Ed), John Webster (Leanne), Todd Byers (Franca), Brenda Murphy (Scott) and her great nieces and nephews, Kaitlin, Lauren, Ella, Luke, Jorja, Island, Nathan, Kylie and Josh.
Ann grew up in Alcona Beach and spent many years at Go Home Lake and Ottawa before returning to Barrie. She was a woman who devoted herself to volunteering for many organizations and charities. She was an avid synchronized skater in both Ottawa and Barrie and after hanging up her skates with the Barrie Spirit Catchers, remained their number one supporter and “Team Mom”. Strong-willed and feisty, she stood her ground and cherished her family and friends above all else. She will be missed by her boyfriend Ron Conroy and her many friends at Chartwell Allandale Station.
At Ann’s request there will be no funeral or celebration of life. Instead, she chose to simply be laid to rest in the family plot at St. Paul’s Cemetery. Donations to Hospice Simcoe in her memory would be greatly appreciated. Online memories and condolences may be shared at www.peacefultransition.ca

Posted on: Tuesday, April 8, 2025It was 1963 when my boyfriend David Webster took me to meet his big sister. Ann greeted me with sparkling eyes, and her dazzling smile, and said, ” I’m so glad to meet you, I’ve heard all about you ” putting me instantly at ease. Over the years we enjoyed so many hours spent together, trips to art galleries, musical productions, (an infamous night at the male strippers club), visits with our western cousins, relaxing poolside in her back yard, or hosting parties in our homes or simply curling up on her couch, still in our jammies, coffee and baileys in hand, watching the Rose Bowl . Ann was fun to be with, she was kind in spirit, shared her talents by volunteering endlessly for the good of others, and always optimistic. My favourite memory is one from years ago, we were walking across a parking lot, and spotted an elderly woman (probably my age now) coming toward us, well dressed, make up and hair impeccable, and Ann stopped her, saying, “My you look lovely today ” The lady suddenly beamed from ear to ear, replying “Well I live in a retirement home, they do everything for me, the only thing I have to do is get dressed and look my best ” A simple smile, and a small compliment can mean so much, and I have never forgotten that. In this world of greed, false accusations, bullying and violence there is so much we cannot control. May we remember the small things we can do, and like Ann make someone’s day better with a smile. Pay it forward please, and know that Ann is smiling on you ! Miss you my dear sister and love you always.

Posted on: Wednesday, April 9, 2025Ann became my link to past family memories just recently. She shared stories of my Mom, Joan (Booth) Lake, my Gran, Doris Webster (Booth), along with a few other Lakes and Websters that all passed when I was young. She sent me family pictures, crocheted items, and family tree info.
She was passionate about her skating career and her time in Innisfil, Go Home Lake, and the surrounds. She was welcoming and kind. She invited me to visit, but covid times intervened.
When the facebook posts, comments & direct messages stopped, I was saddened to hear of her going to memory care and have often wondered what became of Derby, her beloved dog.
Unfortunately we never got to meet face to face, but her loving nature will continue to live on and inspire me. Hugs to family and friends during her transition to her next adventure.
