Passed away on December 29, 2023, at the age of 61, at the Sunnybrook Hospital.

Son of Jackie and the late Herbert.  Beloved husband of Angela for 41 years.  Loving father of Owen, and Kayla (Sean).  Dear papa of Declan.  Brother of Brian (Susan), and the late Lawrence “Larry”, and John.  He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews, and his Siamese cat, Lacie.  Alan is survived by his brother-in-law Barry, sisters-in-law Noreen (Garry), and Tammy (Donnie).  Alan was the son-in-law of Harry and the late Mercedes.

A master of research, he had a remarkable ability to tackle challenges head-on, always determined to figure things out on his own.  An avid golfer, Alan found great joy on the greens, especially when accompanied by his good friend Steve.  He was a man of many talents, also tried his hand at mastering the stock market, demonstrating his hopeful spirit. He cherished every moment spent with his grandson, creating precious memories that will be cherished by all who knew him.

A dedicated educator, Alan loved teaching and enjoyed his students.  His wisdom and passion for sharing knowledge will be remembered by those fortunate enough to have been under his guidance.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Sunnybrook Hospital for their outstanding care and compassion.

He will be sadly missed, I also enjoyed a game or two of golf with AL, he got better at it though. He was such a kind hearted man, and was always there if we needed him.

Deepest condolences to Angela and the family. I went through Borden with Al in 1982, when my last name was Smith. Remember all of us piling into his VW van to go to the bars. Never seemed to have enough money to run the heater. He was a wonderful guy.
