GILES, Frederick Albert “Al”

Past President of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 147, member of Masonic Lodge and Sheba Shrine Club.

Passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie at the age of 95.  Beloved husband of Erika Giles (nee Weber).  Loving father of Linda (Ron) Lee, Peggy (Gord) Giles and Debbie (Peter) Rayner.  Grandfather to Cathy, Sara, Boby and Michelle Lee, Katie and Kristy Giles and cherished Papa to Matthew and Christopher “Buster” Rayner.  Great grandfather to Justine Lee.  Dear brother to Doug, Eileen McGarvey, Don and Bill (Helen) Giles.  Pre-deceased by his brother Benjamin Giles.  Al will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews and extended family.

In keeping with Al’s wishes, cremation has taken place.  The celebration of life will take place on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Collier Street United Church, 112 Collier Street, Barrie at 3 p.m.  Reception to follow.  As an expression of sympathy memorial donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.  Messages of condolence can be left at www.peacefultransition.ca

    To Erika…it’s been many years since we were in touch, but I remember Al way back when I was so young and he ran his first BP station on Essa Road.  What a great guy he was from then til now.  Your mom knew my mom Edith Yarmill and we truly enjoyed time spent with you and your family.  
    My thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.  So many memories that truly make the difference!
