Gorman John Jacklin

Gorman Jacklin in his 92^nd year passed away on Thursday December 26 at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie.

Gorman was born on February 23, 1933 in Hanover Ontario to Hilda and Marshall Jacklin.  He was a school teacher in a one room school house for a year and decided that career was not for him. He then joined Ontario Hydro where he worked for 35 years before retiring at age 54.

He spent 23 years in Barrie living with his wife June. They traveled extensively driving across Canada to the west and east coasts. They went on several cruises to Europe, and around North America including the Panama Canal. They travelled to the middle east visiting Qatar and Dubai. They also owned a home in Florida and spent winters there for 21 years.

He was a proficient artist and painted hundreds of paintings. He meticulously cut the glass and made the frames and mats for each one.  He taught painting techniques to residents of the Florida home for many years. He also played the guitar and sang and he admired artists like Gordon Lightfoot, John Prine and Mark Knopfler. The love of music also extended to dancing and he and June danced up a storm for many years of their marriage.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife June; his daughter Brenda and her sons Nikola and Luka; his daughter Lisa Marie (Jerry); his brother Cameron (Pauline); his step son Rod McLeod (Laurie), their son Alexander (Erika) and daughter Ophelia, their daughter Jessica (Andrew); step son Keith (Jeanne) and their daughters Cassandra and Emily.
Gorman was predeceased by his parents Hilda and Marshall, his brother Stuart and his sister Verlette.
