Funeral Details: Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in the spring of 2025

Peter passed away peacefully at the age of 73 with family by his side, at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, Ontario.

Born in Barrie, Peter and his family grew up in Thornton where he worked as a farmer his whole life, as well committing 32 years to Yachiyo, where he retired in January of 2024.

Peter is predeceased by his loving wife of 42 years, Deborah Lynn (MacDuffie) Johnson, and his father, John Herbert Leslie Johnson.

He leaves behind his mom, Wilma Aliva (Caldwell) Johnson, as well as his children: Peter William George Leslie Johnson of Barrie, Ontario; Patricia Lynn Johnson (James Crawford) of Barrie, Ontario; and Amanda Diane Johnson (Steven Brackett) of Thornton, Ontario.  He also leaves behind his 3 siblings: Elaine Johnson of Orillia, Ontario; George Johnson of Thornton, Ontario; and Shirley McCarthy of Alliston, Ontario.

In the summertime, you would always catch Peter mowing his lawn on his favourite lawnmower, or simply watching the birds and squirrels.  On Sunday’s there was no interrupting his time watching NASCAR racing!  Peter and Deborah would also spend quality time at the Drive-In, watching a movie together.

Peter was full of life and excitement, he knew how to enjoy his time and make all situations memorable, from chasing hot air ballons, going to Canada’s Wonderland for the funnel cakes and water park, playing broomball in his younger years, he also was an avid collector of vintage signs and NASCAR memorabilia; you also can’t forget his favourite egg salad sandwich with corn syrup!

As per Peter’s request, cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of His Life will take place in the spring of 2025.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are appreciated and welcomed at the Canadian Liver Foundation https://www.liver.ca/
