Funeral Details: A celebration of Peter’s life will take place on October 20, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at St. Thomas Anglican Church in Shanty Bay, ON.
Peter Groot passed away peacefully at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Barrie, ON, in his 81st year. A devoted father to Tom and Tanya, and a proud grandfather to Ethan, Sarah, Danica, and Paige. Peter’s love and dedication to his family were the cornerstones of his life. He is survived by his siblings Keith (Tina), Joe (Alice), and Lisa, and is predeceased by his beloved wife Gwenda, as well as his siblings Nelly and John.
Peter was a hardworking man who took pride in providing for his family. In his spare time, he enjoyed the tranquility of fishing and the camaraderie of golf, passions that brought him joy throughout his life. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.

Posted on: Thursday, October 17, 2024I had the privilege of knowing Peter for nearly 50 years. He used to come up to our farm all the time. Peter often helped us with the hay crop and did relief milking for us. He was a great friend and like a big brother to me. I made Peter many cups of coffee at the farm and he always enjoyed my baking. He was such a great guy and would do anything for anyone in need. I’m really going to miss Peter. May He rest easy. My condolences to Tanya and Tom and their families.
