It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joan Leibovitch, who left us peacefully on October 1, 2024, just shy of her 91st birthday.  Born on October 19, 1933, Joan was the life of every room she entered—always quick with a joke, a laugh, and a story.  Her love for life was infectious, from her joy of bingo and the excitement of the casino to her passion for dancing and toe-tapping to music, especially her local favorite, Dylan.  Joan cherished her time living at Whispering Pines, where she enjoyed the warm welcome and great care from the wonderful staff.

Joan was the beloved mother of her two girls, Jan Anita Edelenbos and her late husband Gerard (partner Richard), and Shelley Ann McKinnon (Thomas). The bond she shared with Jan and Shelley was one of deep love and friendship, and they were the heart of her life.

She was predeceased by her devoted husband Ralph Leibovitch, her parents Janenitta and Henry Worboys, her brother Jack Worboys, and her sister Donna Smith.

She will be deeply missed by her nieces, nephews, extended family, and cherished friends.  Joan will also be remembered fondly by Steven Randell (Gabrielle), and her sister-in-law Eileen Joseph.

Joan was a proud grandmother to Ryan Randell (Katherine), Shannon Antonio (Christopher), Amber Randell, Lisa Maiero, Lee Maiero, and Tina Sachranienkow (Mike), and a loving great-grandmother to Logan, Kayleigh, Aiden, Noah, Samantha, Hunter, Tyler, and Eric.  Her family brought her endless joy, and she cherished every moment with them.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Joan’s honor on her 91st birthday, Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Canadian Legion, 1017 Robinson St, Belle Ewart (705-456-2531).

Joan’s laughter, her dancing feet, and her love of music will be missed but never forgotten.  She lived with an open heart and showed us all how to cherish every moment.

Joan, I met you many years ago through Gabrielle. I really enjoyed our talks together, you always had a funny story, you always made me laugh. You always had a smile on your face, which was infectious. You were full of life and quick with the jokes and loved by everyone who knew you. May you RIP, soar high, and continue to bring love and joy to everyone you touch. Heaven has definitely gained an Angel, and you will be missed by all that knew and loved you. My heart felt Condolences and love go out to your family at this sad time. You were loved so much by your family, especially your daughters and grandchildren, and you were Nanny Joan to many who knew and loved you, including me. I hope all the love and memories your family has of you will bring them peace and comfort in the coming days, and that their memories of you will bring a smile to their face when they think of you. You will always be with them in their hearts and memories, and you will live on in them. You will never be forgotten by those who loved you, and those who were lucky to have known you.
