Passed away peacefully on September 15, 2024 at the age of 60 years.  Dear son of Alice and the late Laurence.  Beloved husband of Kathy “Kitten”, and he was her “poops” for 13 years.  Loving father of Marshall Vail (Kyla), Blake Vail (Celeste), Tara Lord (Jim), and Shawn Lord (Kiara).  Grampy of Desmond, Tenille, Vivian, Lily, and Julian.  Brother of Ricky, Kevin, Ronnie (deceased) Bev, Betty Lou, Kimberly, Lorraine, Marilyn, Karen, and Tony.  Russell will be missed also by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Russell was a great guy, “a real gem”.  He was handy, able to fix just about anything. He enjoyed keeping himself busy and was always willing to lend a hand to others. He continued to stay active until he could no longer do so. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Tuesday, September 24th, 2024, from 4 – 8 p.m.  at The Army Navy Air Force Club, 52 Morrow Rd, Barrie, ON.   Friends and Family are welcome, light refreshments will be available.

Russell was a great brother from another mother growing up and all our family camping trips were the best of times I will never forget. You can rest easy until we meet again. Hugs to mom and dad from me. I’m sure mom will keep you in line up there.. lol

It was Scott and I’s pleasure to get to know Russell and Kathy while they were back in NB this summer. Always had a little giggle and a smile. Thanks so much for including us in your family time. Sending Love. Janie & Scott Dysart.

My condolences to all of my nephew Russell’s family. His Uncle Cyril happened to drive Alice to the hospital where Russell was born on Easter Sunday. It was a fast drive to the hospital where Cyril discovered he had a tire going flat and by the time he got the tire changed Russell was born .I am so glad he was able to make that last trip home to New Brunswick.Take comfort that he is now out of pain although he left you much too soon and may all your precious memories sustain you at this difficult time .

To all of Russell’s family Sorry to hear of his passing. We haven’t seen Russell in years but we do remember that he always had you in stitches at any of the Vail parties. I also have never forgotten the missing finger story.
